Sierra Hd Versus Tundra Towing

Recommended Posts

I mentioned when camping season rolls around I would let everyone know the towing experience between my old truck Tundra and my new 2011 Sierra HD. Been busy with baseball and camping....anyway....the Sierra pulls great! Unlike the Tundra I don't know the camper is even behind me...with the heavy duty suspension and the box frame, I really like how it rides...and the piece of mind I have hauling everything plus our family of six is priceless. Gas mileage is about the same although I did get 12 mpg on one trip and 7 mpg on another trip so can't figure that one out yet, but we are getting ready to go on a longer trip so that should be a good indication of mpg. No complaints with the Sierra...I do wish it had a little more horsepower...not saying I need it though. Very pleased with the Sierra HD!!!!

Just got back from a 2,000 mile trip pulling our camper (around 8k lbs.) plus all six of us and a truck bed full of bikes and other gear. The Sierra performed very well. We used 276 gallons of fuel (6.0 gas) on our trip and averaged 8 mpg....is this similiar mpg HD owners are getting? Just curious...

That's about what I'm averaging while towing my trailer. In the 12s unloaded.
