Leveling Kit - 2011 Gmc

Recommended Posts

Hate to ask - but I am trying to figure out which kit is the consensus best - I see a number of people on here with the rough country kit. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks - glad I found the forum to answer some questions.

I went to 2 local 4x4 shops and they told me to go with a DS kit. They have them on all their personal trucks , I was planning on the RC as many others have also , BUT...........????? I don't know what the difference is except one goes in the spring and the other does not .

The DayStar kit rides rougher because you are compressing the spring more. It makes it harder for the suspension to compress which creates a harsh ride. Basicly if you jumped on your front bumper it would take a lot more force (possibliy another guy) to compress the suspension after you add the DS kit.

The RC kit like many other kits lengthen the strut, which does not change the ride. These kits ride like stock except the control arms are not flat across like when stock, they are angled which makes a minor change in ride.

Rough Country spacer lengthens strut which push lower control arm down - no change in ride

DayStar spacer compresses spring which takes sag out of the spring and sag out of truck - harsher ride

Thats exactly what I was wondering. Thank you so much. I am happy with the ride as is so I think the RC 2" would be more to my liking . Where is a good place to purchase the RC 2" ??

Anyone ever heard of a 3" level kit?

Guy down the street has the same truck as mine but his sits visibly higher. Said it's a 3" level kit he had installed a year ago but doesn't remember the brand. Also said he's had no problem with ball joints wearing prematurely. Snapped a pic of it:

Anyone recognize this kit???
