Leveling Kit Question

Recommended Posts

Hey guys...not very active on the site but love reading through the forums and seeing everyone's trucks. Anyway, I just recently had a Pro Comp leveling kit installed on my truck. After getting it home, looking at it for a while and comparing fender measurements from before and after, I am pretty disappointed. My front passenger side resulted in 1.2 inches of lift and my driver side resulted in 1.4 inches of lift. I wanted to get everyone's opinions on whether or not this is typical for this type of lift. I got underneath the truck and looked at the torsion bolts. The driver side bolt is all the way in and the passenger side is showing about 1/4 inch of thread. I guess my concern is, it seems like I paid a decent amount of money ($350) to basically get my torsion bars cranked. I don't really understand how I could have gotten re-indexed torsion keys installed, the torsion bolts screwed almost all the way in and have only gained the 1.2 and 1.4 inches of lift.

Any thoughts/opinions/comments are greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the rambling...

As far as I can see it looks like they installed the new keys. The old keys were sitting in the box on my floor when I picked up the truck. I'm assuming they are the old keys as they have a light coating of surface rust on them.

Was the work done at a 4 Wheel Parts Store? I had some work done by them on my 2005 Sierra 1500 and was not impressed with their lack of attention to detail. That's about all I can say other than I'd never use them again for anything.

You can't install the keys wrong. Its a hexagon.... one index off is 45 degrees of rotation. Indexed too far in one direction will put the key up into the crossmember, and the other direction will make it impossible to preload.

Unfortunately, yes. I can safely say that this will be the last time I use them. I have heard too many people with similar stories and now I know first hand. I guess that's what happens when you give people the benefit of the doubt.
