My Truck

yeah, the ford is nice for one reason. . . . .it does not touch gravel roaad or mud. too scared to scratch it :)

i dont know what is that lower valance thing, if you are talking about those little chromed steps, i keep them in place, they are low enough so the truck can slide on them instead of the cab itself. already tried them a couple time and yes it works. i would like to reinforce those.

mods in mind are: wheel shim kit, maybe 2'' just so it looks a little larger, need to find some huge 7075 aluminium shaft

leveling kit/lift kit. still wish i could afford those air lift kits, that would be awesome to stay low on the highway(better fuel mileage) and lift it when comes time to go offroad.

i have to find a toolbox so i can have a camping/hunting ready kit all the time in my truck

already upgraded the speakers, gor 2 kenwood up front, i am still thinking about having a little sub, replacing rear seats headrest with 8'' speakers and changing those gay speakers in the doors. problem is: stereo deck in those trucks suck quite a bit, theres no sub ooutput, no rca output and even if i spend 2500$ on stereo(wich i already have) it will sound horrible because of that stereo. the day i'll get too bored about that(its coming) something funny will happen. . . .i am sure i could fit one of those fancy stereo with navigation and everything that goes with it.

actual gps cable need to be passed behind everything, i dont want to see it while i am driving

need to find a winch. . . . . .just in case. it will be awesome to log trees as well, no more killing my back pulling trees out of the ditch.

theres body work to do, a lot of it actually.

priority for now is the cheap stuff. body work, making that box(or ffinding it), looking carefully for old broken winch that maybe i could fix.

its a hunting truck, bought only for one reason; hunting. as long as i can put my deer in the box, i dont need anynore room. i do need the chainsaw, tent, cooking stuff, cooler, axe, clothes, survival kit, emergency kit, towing kit, repair kit, spare parts, hunting stuff, etc etc etc. it have to be practical more than anything else. once the setup will be done, i'll start working on the fancy stuff.

Nice truck! The valance spoke of earlier is that extra strip of plastic all the way at the bottom of your front bumper.

  • 5 weeks later...

hi everyone

since couple weeks, i have been sent to north alberta for my job.

nice place, lot of fishing/hunting/offroadind

i had to buy a canoe, did a quick rack for 30$ made out off 2x4 so i dont scratch my truck.

talking of scratches, theres a lot now :D lots of narrow trails, lot of scratches and some of em are quite big. i'll have to make a lot of touch-ups to fix that.

didnt had any breakdown so far here. a little o2 sensor problem quickly fixed and now i am due for a major chek-up and clean-up. been thru a couple puddles, just wana make sure theres no water in the t-case and diff oi. it could use a good greasing too.

pictures

that is a lake i went camping on first of july.

i've seen a nice camping spot however the acces was terrible. i had the choice between a puddle of mud where obviously trucks have been stuck previously, a bigger puddle of mud, and that beach with soft sand

we took the sand :) and it was worth everything. nice beach, nice week-end and i didnt got stuck.

again, nobody get out there because of the road. car cant pass, you see ruts everywhere, peoples are getting stuck here and there and it create big puddles.

thats the best part here.

they are doing camping everywhere but they dont care about the roads and the maintenance. everybody is doing his little something here and there to make it better but few peoples are going there because of those roads and the lack of services.

i am planning soon to go for a camping week-end on an island i saw, that will be a nice trip out there. will take pictures whenever i get there. just dont know yet how i'll bring the firewood out there with the canoe. . . . . . . .maybe dragging everything behind the canoe. . . .wood is suposed to float anyway :)
