4" Lift For 2011 Sierra

Recommended Posts

Earlier this spring I installed a RCX 2" leveling kit, and their 2" lift block in the rear. Im planning on adding either the 1.25" or 1.5" BL soon to my truck. Im leaning more towards the 1.25" since its 50$ cheaper if you include the rear bumper brackets and no welding.

Im now wishing I ordered a 2.5" leveling kit, and a 2.5" rear block. Just so when the BL goes on it will be closer to being a 4" lift.

SO... I have some 3/16" aluminum sheet, very heavy duty stuff. not bendable, it has to be cut with a grinder, or sawzall. My thoughts are to save me some money on a new leveling kit is to remove one RCX 2" leveling block and trace it out on the sheet of aluminum. Then cut out the shape X2 for each side. This will make my front leveling kit a 2 3/8" front leveling kit, close enough to 2.5". OR should i just sell my 2" lift front and rear (i have some 3" blocks on the way, but want to return them and get 2.5" only because i dont like much rake).

What does everyone think about my idea for turning my 2" into a 2.5" lift? I know 3/8" isnt much, but if i go with the 1.5" BL instead of 1.25" i would gain 3/4 of an inch which to me is a noticable difference.

I think if you go with the 1.25" bl, you will soon regret it and wish you had gone with the 1.5". It won't end there though. If you go with the 1.5", you will eventually wish that you just gone ahead and got the 3" body lift. This will continue..ask me how I know.

As far as the leveling kit, are you wanting to stack the aluminum cuts on top of the RC?

i can see by the picture of your truck that lifting is addictive. yes im going to stack on top of the RC 2" leveling kit. if i had the money i would just buy a 6" lift. my truck only has the 4.8 in it, and i had 33's on my 08 with a 4.8. thats about all the tire that motor wants to turn. so thats why im going to keep the overall lift to 4". like i said if money wasnt an issue, i would have bought either a 6.0L, or 6.2L, fully loaded, and gone from there.

I'm with you on that. I didn't plan on my truck going as far as it did, but I couldn't resist. The 4.8 has plenty of power for 35's, it's just the gears that are the problem (and those aren't cheap). I'm about to throw another large sum of cash at my truck this week to finally regear mine.

your truck looks pretty bad ass. once i get my lift situated, im going to do a BB tune. so do you think i would be able to get away with my idea for my leveling kit, or should i just get a 2.5" leveling kit?

one more quick question about leveling kits. i know its not a 1:1 ratio. I measured my 2" lift from RCX, and it only measured 1". i found a 2.5" leveling kit on ebay that says it measures 1.5" and to me that sounds like it would make it a 3" lift? i know i dont want to go over 2.5".

im just trying to make sure that if i do use 3/16" material, that it will actually gain more like 3/8" overall. but im really tempted to just yank out my 2" leveling kit, and 2" rear blocks and install 2.5" stuff at all 4 corners.

I'm no engineer, but the thought of stacking materials to create a larger spacer sounds bad. It's a bad idea to stack blocks and leveling kits in general, so I can't see that stacking even one as small as yours would be a good idea.

ya know something cparks555 i was figuring the costs of buying new leveling kit and new blocks and with the 1.5" BL its going to cost about 300 not including shipping, and a lot of "re-do" work (it looks nice 'cause we do it twice) and im not into that. so for 389 + shipping i can get a zone 3" BL. im just worried about having to modify the shift linkage for the tranny, or the floor select 4x4 lever. but tonight im installing my dual exhaust that took 40 days to get here....

I don't believe there are any mods to be made to the t-case linkage or the tranny.

even better. thanks for all the replies. i will definately keep everyone posted once work picks up enough to start customizing my truck
