Rough Country 4.75" Combo

Recommended Posts

Decided im going to go ahead and give it a try. I know there will be a few ppl on here in no time telling me what a piece of crap it is(NickS), but i know 3 ppl who have it( one of them is the 3 in) and nobody is having trouble. Im not about to argue that it is as good as some of the other brands. I dont plan on doing any major off roading. Probably just some muddy roads during hunting season, and the rest will be just country roads. I cant imagine that it wont hold up to that. And hey if it is that big of piece of crap i will take it off and be out $350. Oh well ive wasted more money on dumber shit.

Changed the RXC 1.25" bl to Zone 1.5" bl so will actually getting 5"

Good luck, and let us know when you take that crap off, or when your truck won't hold alignment..... Just messing with you, I really do hope you have good luck with it. But for real, get some pictures up, and let know how it is holding up. I hope they have fixed the issues, but like I said also, I know people who have tried it (the "new" 3.5) and wound up taking it off. I'm sure some people may not have issues with it, but I know people who have. I'm just trying to save some people some money and telling them my/others experience with it. That is why I'm always trying to get people who are considering this kit to look into a leveling kit and body lift to eleminate the possibility of problems with this kit (and they do exist on both versions), or get a quality lift. But really man, keep us updated on it. I hope you don't have any issues with it. These trucks look great with about that much of a lift.

Also, are you installing it yourself, or a shop? Either way (especially if a shop does it), where are you getting te $350 price tag? Even if you install yourself, your looking at more than that just for the lift. If a shop installs it, and you decide to take I off, your "wasting" a lot more than $350.

Haha i knew it wouldnt be long before NickS commeted, but seriously thanks for your opinion. I read alot of your post in making my decision, and with your experience i would never of bought the 3 in. one. but i did alot of research on the web and didnt find anybody with a first hand experience with the new kit. So i firgured id give it a try. As for the price i am haveing a shop do it. Parts and install 800. i know zone bl is 150 and he said 300 for instal. If i do have to take it off i can do that myself. I just didnt want to mess with the bl part, and it seemed like a really fair price for the install. Again im not sayin by any means that this kit is as good as other ones. Im just to big of a tight ass to lay down 2000 for a rancho.

the body lift isnt hard at all to install, and at $800, you are way above a $350 price tag like your first post. Also, I have posted a few threads of people who have had that 3.5" and took it off after less than a month due to problems. I told one guy the same thing, and he said just like you are, "I'll still test it out, and worse case, i'll just take it off". He did the install his self, but was still pissed with the money he wasted.

It wouln't be as bad if you were doing it yourself, because you would only be out maybe $500 if you don't like it. With all of that, you will be out almost $1100 if you decide to take it off. Like I said, I truly hope you don't have any problems and it works out for you, but now you are talking about a whole lot more money than just $350 if you don't like it or have problems with it. Ive had the Zone 4.5" lift quoted and installed for around $1500 which isn't far off of $1100 which would be a much better route than risking this because you found "3" people who have it and didn't have issues (or at least that don't have any that they know about). I probably wounldnt have noticed my upper control arms rubbing the coils with that lift if another member on gmfullsize hadn't had the same issue and posted about it.

You may be ok, but when have you heard of someone taking off a Zone, BDS, Rancho etc... because of problems? You don't, and maybe RC did finally iron out the kinks in it (which again, I know people who have already taken it off), but it took them too damn long to fix it, and that is a problem in itself. Keeps us posted (even if you have issues or not) so you can give some more feedback on whether it is good or not. I hope all goes well in all seriousness because I hate to see people waste as much money as others and I did on it.

appriciated. If it dont work out this is how i look at it. $800 total. parts and labor. $150 for Zone body lift(which i know will stay on even if rcx comes off) $150 for BL install. So now im into the rcx for $500 installed. I can take it off myself and put back factory w/ leveling kit. ( so im out no money there) Then since i live in a redneck town i could probably sell it for $250 or so. So i lose $200 or $300. Like i said before, ive spent more money then that on a good weekend, and not even been able to remember on what!! :)

I understand the BL, but I'm still not seeing how you are into the RC lift for $500 when that is the cost of the lift all together. Are you saying parts and install labor on the suspension part of the lift and BL part all total $800? So basically the install on the entire kit is $300 (suspension and BL)? How does that shop stay in business only charging that?

Also, are you confusing the zone 1.5" BL with the RC 1.25"? I'm not understanding why you are mentioning the zone. The 4.75" kit is the 3.5" suspension lift, and the RC 1.25" body lift. You cannot put that RC combo lift on your truck along with the zone BL.

Yes $800 for everything minus alinement. Ok it actually isn't the rcx combo. It is the 3.5 rcx but I ordered the zone 1.5 bl instead of the rcx 1.25. And yes I know 800 is f-ing cheap. That's the only reason I'm trying it.

What time is your truck going to be done, i cant wait to see pictures i think this set up gives the truck a perfect stance. I hope it all works out for you.

should be done by six. i think it will look good. just hope they improved the new kit and it stays allined. I get my new tires on this weekend and will probably wait till then to clean it up and take some pics. so should have them up next week somtime.
