That is a nice looking TuRD. LOL I hate the TRD sticker because it always makes me say Turd instead. No in all serious though that is a very nice looking truck. If I had my 2005 in the shop all the time for warranty repairs, I'd have probably traded it for a foreign truck over Ford or Dodge simply because I am not a fan of those two. So how does it drive? Power? Any complaints yet?

So far it has a tighter turning radius, more horsepower, gobs of storage, and has a good fit and finish. The bad so far I'm getting not as good gas mileage, the ride is rougher, the sheet metal is thinner, and radio sounds like crap.

The sheet metal is thinner? Is that possible lol.

I have never been crazy about the interior of toyota especially the door panels, but I did love my old Tacoma

Looks good, just take off that TRD Warrior decal. It looks stupid to me, but other than that I like the truck.

Agreed...I'm not a fan of stickers either....However, if its like my buddy's TRD, the sticker is under the clear coat.

I hated the way the tundra drove. It felt like I was driving an 18 wheeler and the ergonomics are crap.

Hopefully you will have good luck reliability wise. The tundra was the vehicle that cause consumer reports to drop toyota from their automatic ranking of reliable.

Yeah, they do have a rough ride...especially my buddy's RCSB TRD.

And his front diff bit the big one at 800km...on a dirt road. He has lots of little issues with it too...squeaks etc...but Toyota is meticulous with fixing issues...at least the one here in town is...don't know about other dealerships.

Still has way more get up and go than my truck though...and with the TRD grille, it looks awesome.

Thanks for such honesty. All too often people tend to overlook weaknesses because it is theirs and therefore it has to be perfect. I really hope you enjoy the new truck.

I looked at the Tundra very seriously in 2008, but you're list of complaints pretty much mirrors what I felt. We have a Sienna too, and I've said many times that Toyota must be trying to win an award for "how thin can we make the skin". I wanted that 5.7/6-spd for towing, but not bad enough. If I only needed the double cab, it would be reasonable. However... I'd need the Crewmax. Those still look like big, fat tadpoles to me. Just can't get past it... but the DC looks reasonable.

Keep an eye on the Air Induction Pumps on those too. I will say this: my wife and kids have beaten the crap out of the Sienna :) , and I've only changed oil and tires, except for a failed door lock. That's where Toyota gets you. The part may not fail often, but $350 for a door lock assembly?

To be honest, it sounds good to hear from a shop mechanic that he isn't seeing as many issues on the Tundra as on the GM. I would have guessed the opposite, based on looking both over from head to toe (e.g., the Tundra looks/is a more complicated/expensive power-train).

Check back and give an update!

The only time those trucks along with all the other makes look good are in my rearview mirror, which is all the time.
pretty sure stock vs. stock he'd blow your doors off, 6.2 or not.

They're both rated the same 0-60. 6.3 sec...however...you get next to a guy with a RCSB, and your toast.

The 6.3sec is for the quadcab

Some independent tests I've seen put a stock 6.2 CC slightly faster than a Tundra DC 5.7. Doesn't matter to me, as I only care what it does with a heavy load behind it, and both would pull harder than my 5.3.
