hey did you see the rough country 3.5 in lift video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gtvd-LiNTCU

Thanks 97reddodge:

I have the 3.5 inch RC lift in the bed of my 2011 Sierra as I type... it's getting it installed tomorrow, along with BFGoodrich 285/70R17.

Can't wait!

There has not been many pics of this lift installed, and this video had some good shots... thanks again!

There has not been many pics of it installed because it is shit. I'm serious. If I were you, I send it back and get my money back like a lot of us have. Some people have had it on for less then a month. I strongly advise taking it back. I haven't heard of anyone happy with this lift.

:dunno:

And Its a shame you cant hear all of the bushing creaking and rattling going down the road. Seriously, why do we have to keep warning people about this lift. Your truck wont align, it squeaks like hell, the UCA's rub the coils.

Anyways, I guess I will post the normal stuff about this lift to try and save some people some money. Dpaul (or anyone else looking at this), Im urging you to take it back and don't risk it. Here are just a few threads of people who already took it off even after we warned them. If you are looking at it, the I think you should look at a leveling kit and a body lift for half the price and more lift, or buy a quality suspension lift. I and several others wasted a lot of money jacking with this piece of shit and luckily they bought it back from me. Others were not so lucky, that is why I would take it back before you open the box. Anyways, I'm tired of warning people. Here are a couple of threads to read through about this lift (AND BELIEVE ME, THERE ARE A TON MORE OUT THERE!)

These are just a few. Blackout07 has tried it as well with the same problems. He has seen posts on other forums (that I don't follow) of people taking it off as well. Listen to us!

  • 2 weeks later...

The new RC 3.5 inch body lift is great... there is no "bushing creaking and rattling", and the alignment was and still is perfect. And so far it doesn't "squeak like hell" and the "UCA's [do not] rub the coils".

I have put 900 miles on it since the lift.... so far so good!

I'll post before and after pics once I figure out how!

I'll also report any problems with this new design if anything changes.

Very very happy so far!!!

I was skeptical since I read so many bad things about the old design... I think they may have got it right.

NickS - How many miles until your problems started with the old design?

Update on the 3.5" RC Lift:

Almost 3000 miles on the lift and ABSOLUTELY no problems!!!!

I have taken it off-road and twisted the frame through ditches.... drove it from Atlanta to St. Louis and back.

One month, 3000 miles... I LOVE THIS LIFT!

The best $495.00 I have spent.

The added 1/2" was most probably for geometry correction. I know where the 1/2" was added and it will definitely reduce stress on the parts that were having problems with the old design. I feel for the folks who had the problems with the original design. It sounds like RC may have had a design flaw.

But so far, this 3.5" lift is working great. :jester:

Glad to hear you are having good luck with this kit. you can't beat the price, I would like to see the long term effects on the suspension parts.

Glad you are having good luck with it. I don't follow you with the added .5" helping the geometry though. If anything, it would make it worse.

All I have to say is............good luck. You have to be one of the only people who is happy with this lift. Hope you don't see any problems. Mine started right off the bat (1000 miles) but I didn't notice them until tire wear was showing. I hope you had a good shop align it, because mine did align "within specs of the lift". The shop told me, it was no where near perfect, but was ok according to the specs of the lift. The place has since stopped installing the 3" and "new" 3.5" lift due to all of the problems, and they are a dealer for RC. I don't know. The only thing I do know, is it still isn't worth $500 when you can do a leveling kit and small body lift for half the price IMO.

Good luck with the truck, and let us know if you have any trouble. Did you install it yourself? If not, then you may not know what to look for if something is wrong. One of the guys in the threads I posted above installed the new one himself, and took it off in less than a month because of slack and fitment of some stuff.
