A Little Car Stereo Install Help....

Recommended Posts

Mods please feel free to move if in the wrong place....

I have a 07 Silverado that I am installing a car stereo in, I dont have OnStar or anything like that to worry about. My question is about the main power line for the amp the runs from the battery....Where is the bst place to pass this wire through on the engine side, and aproximately where does it pop out on the other side?

I was outside poking around for a bit last night and couldnt find what I was looking for...

Thanks in advance!!

I was looking at mine trying to convince myself it is too hard run wire to put subs in so I won't but you could for sure run it through the same grommet as the hood release which is located behind the fuse box on the right side side of the brake booster.

There is a hole on the driver's side that you can find pretty easily going from the inside. When I did the audio on my 2001HD Silverado I fit a 4 guage power wire through it with out much problem. Should be fairly easy to find as it's behind and above the pedals if I remember correctly. There is already a few/bundle? of wires going out so just trace them to the floorboard/firewall and you're good to go. To ground the two amps I had I just used the rear seat bolts (extended cab) and never had a problem. If it wasn't for the stupid bose crap in my current truck I would have at least put the subs into this truck as well.

I have found a spot that is somewhere around where the steering column comes through. It comes through the inside where there is also nothing in the way. You just have to pull back the fire wall insulation to get to it.

Thanks guys, I will check those areas out!

Another little snag I am running into is the sub placement. I sold my '65 and all of the radio equipment is going from that to my truck. I have a decent 8in sub in a allumapro box, it hits nice. But the box is big and bulky and I am having a hard time finding a new box for the 8 that can perhaps fit under my seat.

I have a 07 Silverado w/ a 60/40 rear seat, it is the older body style, I already have a plan for the amp, but sub placement is proving frustrating.

is it a crew cab or extended cab? I know two guys with subs in that body style truck. The one with the crew cab has 2 10's behind the rear seat. The guy with the extended cab has his under the rear seat.

I guess it would be an extended cab, it has 4 doors that open "normal" However I have solved the probblem, I just broke down and bought a new sub and box, this will actually fit entirely behind the bcak seat.
