Powerdyne Superchargers

Recommended Posts

What do you guys think of powerdyne superchargers.  I noticed that tbyrne used to sell them, but now sells ATI instead.  Any particular reason?  BTW, how soon does boost come in on powerdyne superchargers?  I think I read somewhere that it was supposed to be 2k rpms.

thanks

The PowerDyne is an okay head unit.  It uses an internal belt so some people have experienced belt breakage.  You’re supposed to change the internal belt every 50,000 miles so it’s not really a carefree unit.  The way the impeller is designed it does give you a little more boost in lower RPM’s as far as it coming on at 2000 rpm I’m really skeptical about that.  They major reason why I don’t care too much about the PowerDyne is because there are limitations to the blower.  PowerDyne blowers are not built for a lot of boost so that’s a negative in my eyes…but it will be great for someone that wants more power and does not care for upgrading it later.

Now the Procharger head units are not bad at all.  Some of their head units are self contain so no taping into the oil pan is required.  Their head units can handle a lot of boost so that is a plus in my eyes, but I have heard of belt slippage in high boost levels.  As far as the complete kits…I like the Procharger because it comes with an intercooler where the PowerDyne does not.
