gnet158
Thanks, and how lucky you are to get to see these majestic birds every year. I caught an article about this guy hanging around the park, first time I've ever hear about it. So we went early in the morning and he was sitting on his perch. Wish their were more. Im in New Jersey, I work along the Delaware River. Bald Eagles were all but extinct in Jersey in the late seventies. They took some from up in Canada and worked to imprint newly hatched in south Jersey. We now have quite a few here. Along the Delaware there is a nesting pair which had a baby a few years ago. They dont get their white head and tail feathers until the 4th year. We were privileged to watch as the offspring matured and this year he got his feathers. Some of the guys have watched as one of the eagles dove and pulled fish from the river... Whenever you see one soaring you just have to stop and watch until their out of sight. Great picture. M.R. GPSilverado
Great Pictures. We were fishing in the late 90's on Lake Wateree in SC during a January Striper tournament. We had only had one bite all day and missed that fish. We saw an Eagle soaring high above the back of a cove, and watched him come down to tree top level, then dive on a fish. He pulled out a Striper that was probably 3 lbs and flew away with it. There was only one fish caught that day in the tournament, but watching that Eagle take a fish was worth the trip. I only wish I had a camera that took great pictures and was somewatch weather resistant. I ruined a camera by taking it on a trip and having it get wet when it rained. After the first one, I started putting the camera in a ziplock bag and then inside a water resistant gear bag, but I never have them out when I need them due to concerns of getting it wet.
