Jet Performance Programmer '01 Silverado

My buddy just picked up a really nice truck. '01 Silverado ext cab 4x4 with the 5.3.

 

He's looking into tunning his truck and was thinking about a Jet Performance programmer. My '08 has been tunned by black bear and I love it!

 

What are some of the pro's and conns of black bear VS Jet performance?

The "canned" tuning like Jet and Hypetech offer are not in the same league as a custom tune. Very limited what they change and they cost as much as proper custom programming. Stay away from junk like that and anything that intercepts and modifies sensor signals to the pcm.

if he's looking for a handheld programmer, steer clear of jet, superchips, hypertech... they offer mediocre tunes, and very limited adjustability... and NO custom tuning options available for them - which means you're stuck with whatever tunes they give you on the handheld...

I agree, go with diablo, it's pretty good if you adjust the shift pressure, fuel trims, spark, and WOT PE on the diablo tune.

Engines are like women, the all have the same parts. But like women, and engines there is no "one size fits all" way to make them all happy. A canned tune might make her smile, but to get screaming in delight, it takes something special for each one, as each is individual.

 

As for the engine, Justin @ Blackbear has what it takes to get her wound up. As for the wife, well, that a driver mod issue!

with a Diablosport predator, you get the best of both worlds... it comes with preset dyno-created tunes on it already, made for the vehicle...

 

Plus, it allows you to make adjustments to a bunch of things yourself, to get things dialed in more depending on your mods, or if you change mods and need to re-adjust things...

 

PLUS, you can also get custom tunes written for it and your vehicle specifically, for even more gains...
