Gm Compact Truck Redesign?

Recommended Posts

Can't beat a Tacoma for a smaller pickup. The ranger and colorado are not even in the same class in comparison to the Tacoma.

what in rusting?! i'll an s-10 anyday if i was looking for a toy truck

No, in every comparison you can name. I'd take a chance with a rusty frame tacoma over a pos ranger or colorado/canyon. I had a 2003 double cab trd that never had any rust issue on the frame. Obviously some did. My truck was flawless and the 3.4 was better than any ranger or colorado offering. I only sold it to get a full size tuck and full size gmc/chevy is the way to go in my opinion. Aren't colorado/canyon's made by isuzu? Don't get me wrong I love gmc/chevy. My wife and I have my Sierra, a Tahoe and a Yukon Denali XL. But you couldn't give me a ranger or colorado/canyon. I'd say, no thanks.

They're seriously discontinuing the small pickup line?

yes, 2010 or 2011 is the last year......the the above post, i agree i'm not big into colorado platform, i had an s-10 and it was one of the best trucks i've ever had, i've seen rangers take some uber abuse though and still keep coming back for more...i know of a ranger edge that takes 90 buddles of shingles and tows a dual axle trailer with a lift of osb every week...i woulden't do that with my 1500 lol

The only better truck on the market than the Tacoma is the Frontier. It does everything the Tacoma can do except better. Plus they're not a dime-a-dozen like the Tacoma. The fully-boxed frame of the Frontier makes it the better "truck" than the Tacoma. However, I wouldn't mind a Colorado Z71 either. They can hold their own on just about any front. The interior and love it or hate it styling is what killed it.

  • 4 weeks later...

i'd put an s10 or ranger up against any toyota tacoma. the tacoma is nice, but a composite bed, are they serious? obviously not a truck used to do work... there are probably more 80's v8 s10's on the road than there are 90's tacoma's all together.

my father in-laws tacoma is really nice until you close the door... it sounds like a hallow tin can when you close it, funny thing is, so does the tacoma's at work, the camry and every honda i've gotten into lately.

S10 for sure, the colorado ended GM's ownership of this market

Hey guys, this is my first posting here. I owned a 2006 Tacoma and got rid of it due to a rusting frame. You could tell where every spot weld was on the inside of the frame just by looking at the rust forming on the outside of the frame. They basically sandwiched thinner metal together and spot welded it on the inside to make a thicker frame. I still have the long rust streaks on my concrete driveway from the frame. Traded it in on a Silverado Z71. As far as sheet metl goes, the Tacoma felt like a beer can the Silverado feels like the keg. It did get great gas mileage but they didn't build them for strength. I had looked at the Colorado before getting the Tacoma and it was the Toyota's interior that won out.
