Gibson Headers & cat-back exhaust

I installed Gibson stainless steel headers and cat-back exhaust on our truck. Did noticed increase in power and torque. Gas mileage when pulling the fifth wheel went from 9mpg to about 8 1/2 (lead foot). But also notice a decrease when not pulling the fifth wheel. Now my wife drives the truck 95% of the time and after 36 years of marriage, I would never accuse of her driving with a led foot!

Question: One of my friends said he heard that I should disconnet the battery over night and reconnect in the morning. The computer will then recalibrate itself to the new system. Anyone out there heard of this???
