Chip Or Tune

I am really interested in learning more about the performance tunes. In fact, I think I am going to go with the Bear performance Autocal, but I was told that these things release too much gas and the unused gas messes up the cataletic converter and isn't good on the engine in the long run. Is there any truth to that? I have a 2004 Crew cab 2500 with the 6.0L with 4" lift and 285s. I have a stock intake with K&N filter and just got a magnaflow muffler yesturday. I couldn't believe the differance that the muffler made allready. What can I expect from the Bear performance AutoCal?

false. I mean the potential is there.. but only if the tuner sucks

Do you think I will notice much more differance than a new muffler has allready made? That made the truck come to life by itself.

If you think a muffler made a difference you'll crap when you get the tune, it definately has way more power, but it also has greatly increased driveability due to trans. alterations

The muffler didn't do anything man sorry. It just probably feels like it because its a placebo effect kinda thing. Once you get it tuned you will really notice a difference.

Honestly the tune is the only thing doing worthwhile to make power with these trucks unless you start diggin into the motor or throwing on power adders. Exhausts and intakes dont do shit. You might get like 5-10 whp @ WOT freed up (coupled with a tune) but thats about it. Most people are doing it for induction and exhaust sound.

Edit: like posted above.. you will actually extract more power with a tune.. but the big difference with the gas motor trucks is the transmission tuning. It makes it much nicer to drive and thats also what wakes it up the most.
