Good pics, one question.

 

Seeing as how it's 2wd, and consideribly low ground clearance, I'm thinking that this vehicle wasn't intended for off-road use (Please correct me if otherwise).

 

So, what use do yall have for the winch? ???

Speaking of that, what are those wooden blocks used for in the pic of the open drawer?  I thought maybe the small ones might be splints, but the others look like 4x4's.  ???

 

And I can't quite make out what that thing is with the chains hanging from it in near the rear tire.  What is that?

 

Jeremy, a winch can come in handy even on vehicles that aren't 4x4's.  Especially on a rescue vehicle.  I'm sure k1500chevy97 can tell you more, but the first thing that comes to my mind would be to possible use on a wrecked car.  Possibly using it to keep it from it from sliding off an embankment/cliff or use it to lift it up if someone was pinned under it.  Just a thought, but I'm sure it has plenty of uses on a rescue vehicle.

Tom, I think the 4x4s are probably used for stacking and stuff during rescue operations when then need to prop things up and all to pull people out or something like that.  I think that is what they are used for.

The chains underneath the vehicle are those "on-spot" tire chains you can engage or disengage them from the cab "basically automatic truck chains"
