Batch
Can someone give me a list of everything I'm going to need to buy to "properly" lower my 1500 Silverado 2" in front and 3" in rear?? Thanks, Batch
Y2K2Sierra
What year 1500? I have a 2002 that I lowered 2/4 with Hotchkis coils up front and leafs out back. Love the handleing. Kinda gives it a sports car feel, and looks awesome.
Batch
Oops I guess a year would've helped huh?? Well it's a 2001. Did you do spindels or just springs on the front?? Batch
Y2K2Sierra
I used just coils. And just leafs on the rear. A lot of people say to use the DJM 2/4 kit. It uses control arms up front and shackles and hangers in the rear. That will keep the ride real close to stock. I like a stiffer ride and better handleing, so I went with the Hotchkis kit. From everything I have heard DO NOT use the Belltech spindles. They hurt you turning radius and make your front tires stick out about .5" further. LokiSLE
well y2k...that is true for the most part, the new belltech spindles aren't the best, they do take away from the turning radius, and with trucks like we have, you need all the turning radius you can get. The hotckis set up is good, but I would recommend djm for the 99+ body style chevy/gmc's The control arms up front are easy to change, and the hanger and shackles are awesome...here are the part numbers and a place that you can order from that comes highly recommended by a lot of sport truck enthusiasts.... www.stylinconcepts.com Part Number - HS25994 - 4" Hanger and Shackle Kit • 1999 - 2002 Chevrolet PickUp-C/K or Silverado - Short Bed - 1500 (1/2 Ton) cost 159.95 Part Number - CA2599L2 2" Lower Control Arms • 1999 - 2002 Chevrolet PickUp-C/K or Silverado - 1500 (1/2 Ton) Cost 299.95 or go here http://www.djmsuspension.com/Product....rts.htm The part number for the kit is K2599-L1 It includes everything that i listed above for 491 dollars and some change. LokiSLE
almost forgot...you will have to buy new springs too for the drop, but don't get the crappy djm shocks...that is the only thing about djm that sucks...their crappy toxic shocks...i suggest getting doestch tech shock obsorbers...they work very nice. and if you have a x-cab, make sure you ask about the carrier bearing assembly when you call djm to order the stuff. Batch
Thanks for your responses, I ordered 3" springs for the front and 4" shackles and hangers for the rear all from stylinconcepts.com. I'll be getting the control arms in the near future. I'll post pics when I get it all installed. Will I have problems on the front end by using springs rather than control arms?? 95_togo
i don't think you should have problems....i have 3" drop spindles and 2" drop springs on mine, but then again, its a 95!
Golden Dragon
I need some suggestions... I have a 2002 ext cab silverado (LS). I did a 2" shackle in back, noticed that drivers side of the bed saged about a 1/2". I went to a 2/4 belltech drop (frnt springs/rear shackle & hangers) took out stock bump stop. Unbelievable how bad it bottomed out! Still noticed a little sag, moreso w/full tank of gas. Put 4 toxic shocks on, made a world of difference, but still bottoms out. Don't want to resort to cutting frame, I see too many people w/trks lowered and I know they all can't be riding like mine. Any Ideas would be appreciated. Bty...dealer kinda blew me off, on the lean issue. I brought in stating bad leafs. Thanks again
