What headers work best on a 5.3?

I personally like TOG's [The Other Guys], JBA also makes a nice set for your truck, both of these will open it up and give you a little more "grunt"

Yeah, I have been buying from Tom for years with my Camaro SS.  

 

Since I have such a heavy (not as heavy as others, I know), truck, I want to make sure I don't lose my low end for 10-15 hp up top.  I want to be able to suprise, and disappoint some local sports cars.

 

I realize headers alone wont do this, but maybe headers, cat back,NOS, electric fans, and a few other things might put me in the low 14's or lower and still maintail 15 mpg+.

 

Is the added cost over the gibson headers worth it?

I have seen references that show that the Gibson headers are actually JBA's - anyone want to comment - can't speak from experience. In any event long headers wll help you accrowss the range.

I had the same concern but wanted headers and true duals. For my 02 5.3 I have accompolished my goal of retaining low end and having the benenfit of headers and duals for rpm above 2500. I went with JBA headers, 2.5" mandrel bent piping, and also added a Magnaflow-X to my exhaust system.
