Track Question

Recommended Posts

I can only speak to HRP [Houston Raceway Park] personally - the rest of my experience was on county roads.

=====================================

Friday Safe Street Night

Time: 5:00pm - 10:45pm Central

Location: Drag Strip

Friday Night Street racing is where you can race your friends or pit your car against the world famous timers on the fastest quarter-mile on the planet.

Times and speed are given to each driver, but not shown on the scoreboards and not announced over the speakers. Everyone will see who wins the race, but only you will know your time and speed.

Pricing:

Car and Driver: $15.00

Spectators: 8.00

Kids 12 and under: FREE

Gates open at 5:00 pm

Time trials at 5:30 pm

Staging lanes close at 10:45 pm

=====================================

They have a Sunday instant green also - same idea - you drive what you brung and take your chances with who or what is in the next lane - get your ticket with stats and get in line to do it again.

Jeff Tylers definitive guide to drag racing is well worth the read.

It is fun, a little dangerous, and you get to meet a whole lot of nice folks - not too many trucks run, but enough to keep it interesting. :devil:

You need to look at there schedule.  Most Drag strips have a couple days during the week and many weekends when there aren't any major event for T&T (test & tune).

You go to the track, pay $10 bucks to get in and $20 to race (this is what I pay here), you go through tech inspection, go race freely.

For instance, Friday's at Route 66 has open T&T and if you get there at 4'ish when they open the gates, you can run uninhibited.  I think I hotlapped 6 times before the staging lanes started to get busy therefore slowing down the pace.
