Truck Quits At Certain Rpms, Etc Gives Up: Govenors Only On Certain Mo

OK, this has happened more than once. Ok so I have an 08 Silv that has the stock air box w/ a K&N, I custom made a straight 3" tube from the air box directly to the butterfly.

I also replaced exhaust with a magnaflow.

Now, on a desolate desert road and the only person out there i took the truck and hit the thing. well, I get up to 86-90 and it just stops accelerating. It'll coast but what is the wildest thing is that unlike other govenor restricted vehicles that will buck or use other methods, this truck will just stay at those speeds but yet the motor will not make any noise. But the speed will stay for a few seconds until i pull my foot off.

I asked a couple guys I know with their chevy's and theirs are 05 and the other guy something else. They both said in park they can redline their vehicle, not that i'd want to but mine will just quit and rpms drop at 4K rpm.

is this the damn govenor or is there somehow too much air and its causing the truck to hiccup as the sensors are having a hard time compensating for the new free air flow?

They also stated that there trucks ( one is lifted but stock everything else, literally factor 5.3L) and he said he has beaten mustangs all the time and his will not shut off at 85-90 and that he's gotten up to 110+.

What's the deal with mine? Do I need an edge evolution and that should solve the prob?

let me know what your thoughts are with the NNBS trucks...

There is a rev limiter while you are in park/neutral that will not allow you to go past 4k rpms. There is also a speed limiter on these trucks. Mine is at 98mph from the factory. Your friend may have had the speed limiter removed when he adjusted for his tire size. If ha didnt adjust for tire size then his speedo would be off and that could be why he is reading 110+mph.

Its designed that way so people doing dumb things wont blow the engine or drive at ludicrous speeds too fast for the tires, brakes and suspension.

Your tires should be S rated...therefore 112MPH top speed. 110MPH is dangerously close to that rating....Bad things happen when you go over the speed rating of your tires.

Upgrade your tires, suspension and brakes before you try deleting your speed limiter.
