Isn't This A Little High?

Recommended Posts

I start a new side job this coming weekend so I'm in the market for a small truck. Will be doing a lot of driving. Prefer a regular cab, short bed pick up. I saw this truck:

Chevrolet : Colorado : eBay Motors (item 250564067420 end time Mar-16-10 11:36:04 PDT)

To me, it seems pricey. I was thinking around $12,500 - $13,000 out the door.

Also for anyone that owns one, have you been satisfied with the truck? Haven't had much experience with this GM product.

I really want a nice used S-10 5-speed but they are very short in my area right this second.

For a 2009? Doesn't seem too bad :D

Don't know much about the Colorados. My old lady's Grandpa likes his 2008. It's easier for him to get into and easier for him to pilot since it's smaller. I've kinda heard the cost to purchase isn't much lower and the fuel savings aren't much better. But I've no direct experience.

I believe there are a few guys with 'em around here. :D

Thanks Nick. Vehicles are so damn expensive these days. I don't see the money in most of them thats why I usually buy used.

Anyone else have any feedback?

They are darn expensive.

My 2010 Colorado stickered in at over $27,000.00 and I only got the LT1.

Nice truck but I think it is a bit dated.

I'm gonna write up a review of mine when I get more time.

On used trucks, it is very difficult to find one that has not been wrecked, abused, neglected, or have other issues. Finding a good used truck is not an easy task.

Although red is a fine color. I had four red automobiles in past - and I got more speeding tickets on the red cars than any other ones. Something about red. But, certainly a nice color - I did buy all four.

the 5 banger is a nice motor, they aren't super awsome on mpg but power wise they are pretty good...payload dosen't seem that great, i think part of is they are built so fricking low to the ground...im an s-10 loyalist what can i say

Seems a little high to me. I've seen RCSB GMT900 around here for only a few thousand more. It's a good looking truck though.

Appreciate all the replies. I've changed my mind a little and really don't need anything that expensive. I found a 06 GMC Canyon with the 2.8L I4 5 speed with only 32k miles on it. They're asking $8495. Going to go look at it tomm evening.

Are the 2.8L motors pretty good? They went up to a 2.9L in '07 I think.

We just had a discussion about ridiculously high prices in the full size truck forum. Yes, GM has raised the prices very steeply in the last year. Even used trucks are high, especially the diesels.

I saw a new 2010 Colorado crew cab Z71 4X4 LT1 5 cylinder with an almost $ 30k sticker! If it had leather, it would be exceeding $ 30k.

Going to store it under a shelter for now. I want get the front end completely rebuilt and add 2" lift on both front and rear. Also, add a size bigger tire. Probably just drive it a couple times on the weekends. When the motor blows I thought about swapping it out with a crate motor. Maybe 400hp+. But the motor still runs really good so it will probably be a while.

Make it a weekend warrior type deal lol.

the I4 is gutless for towing or hauling, the average is 20ish for mpg highway or city..just my cents from experience but that was a 2wd ECSB with an auto
