Gmt800 Vs Gmt900

Recommended Posts

Anyone have a preference of one over the other? Why?

The active fuel management scares me on the 900s (although Im sure it comes without too)

I like my 4 speed 4l60E (Its been proven, ones never failed on me, although some claim they are terrible) I'd trust 4 spds over 6 in terms of durability

Basically I feel they mechanically are the same truck. I also think the 900s dont look as good unless they have 18 or 20 inch wheel because the fenders look ballooned.

I like the interior of the 900s better.

On both the 800s and 900s I think GMC makes a better looking front end. The "cat eye" look on mine is one I havent grown to like as much as my 2000 chevy.

Looks wise IMO the GMT900 GMC is the best, then the GMT800 Chevy, then the GMT800 GMC and then the GMT900 Chevy.

Mechanical wise, the GMT900s now have more trucks available with the 6.2L and the 6L80E outperforms the 4L60E in every aspect imaginable.

Other than those factors, there's nothing really distinctive that would make me sway between the styles.

I like the GMT900's alot. Both of them, the Chevy and the GMC. But, I really like my Sierra. It still looks cool to me and I consider it a good-looking truck. I hope I don't sound conceited, but I'll drive down the street and Tacoma's, Ford's, Rams, and Nissan's will drive by and I feel that I have the better truck. That's just opinion, of course. :shakehead:

I really was impressed by the first GMT900 I saw. I liked the exterior styling better than the GMT800 in every way! I was a little let down the first time I sat in a GMT900 . . . even at first with my truck, I still longed for the GMT800 inside. :banghead:

I'm used to it now, the plastic and all, and it is probably actually better. :shakehead:

Even though I loved my older trucks when I had them, I like my GMT900 better than any of the 4 GMT800s I had. Most 900s do not have the 6 speed and many do not have AFM.

2.5 Years and 16000 miles on mine with ZERO problems. I never had that kind of experience with any of my 800s.

I have had both, I had a 900 Suburban, and we have a few delivery trucks in my company fleet that are 900 GMCs, I still can't go for the 900 Chevy pickup styling, if they had made it look like there chevy 900 SUV, it would be a different story. But in general I love the 800's looks by far over any of the 900 pickups, the Chevy SUV 900 I like.

As far as working out of them, the 800s kick the 900s butts IMO. 900s are way to tall, both at the bed sides and the load hight at the tailgates is rediculess. But for some reason all the mfgs have gone this way.

I like the 800s seats a whole lot better then the 900s. I can drive either of my 800 Pickups, all day and night without much back pain. About 2 hours is all it took on my 900 series suburban to really start hurting my back.

I had not bought a used truck in a long time, but after owning a few 900 company trucks and my 900 suburban experince. I bought a used 06 800 chevy with super low miles a year or so ago, and now that I am starting to rack up the miles on it. I bought another super low mileage used 06, just to split the miles up a little.

So far there is really not a new truck on the market that I like better then either of my 800s. I am not real sure what I am going to do when these two 800s I own now are miled out. I sure hope that GM has some improvements on there next generation 1000 or whatever it will be called.

I don't like the look of the GMT900 Chevy, I much prefer the GMC. And that's coming from someone that owns an 08 Tahoe, so go figure. But I also think the Tahoe is better looking than the Yukon.

:shakehead:

Ya, it seems a lot of fokes think the same thing. The GMC pickup front clip is nice but the GMC suv front clip is odd. Just the oposite with Chevy, the pickup is the odd looking one where the Tahoe/Suburban/AVE are the lookers of the Chevy group. I can't imagine GM did this on purpose, but it sure makes ya think about it, since so many people say the same or similar things about which ones they like and dislike when comparing the 900s .

I really think that there is just a select vocal few that really think that. I base this off of the fact that the Chevy in both the SUV and Truck platforms way out sells the GMC. I personally love them both GMC and Chevy. I ended up with a Chevy, but I would have bought a GMC just as quick if the deal would have been there.

While I love both the GMT900 Chevy's and GMC, if I was building the perfect GMT900 it would be a combo of the two. Chevy fenders with a GMC grill.
