Truck In The Shop Again

Recommended Posts

Well this sunday i pulled from a light at 1/4 throttle and noticed rpms went up to like 6100 then immediatly i let off and trans banged real hard into 2nd.

I talke to my trans guy today at the shop he said the tunner is defently amplifing a problem but he couldnt get the truck to do it for him. So he is giving me a "big reg button" more less a data logger that will take 30seconds before i push the button and 30 seconds after. He thinks that the trans is not being told to command a 2nd gear shift cuz the tunner is telling the truck i need more fuel. Therefore not reconizing a gear ratio change and not throwing a code. He also said if this did happen it should of thrown a light at me but since it didnt the truck must think this is ok.

Any thoughts, i do have this thing custom tuned but i have had the same tune on a smaller trans (4l60e) and never had the issue, now with the better 4l65e i have this crazy issue? im at a loss here, i wasnt raggin the truck or anything this just happens at random times. And since of course i have a tunner everyone wants to point blame at it.

Do you have an oil coated air filter?

The use of an excessively/over-oiled aftermarket, reusable air filter may result in:

• Service Engine Soon (SES) Light On

• Transmission shift concerns, slipping and damaged clutch(es) or band(s)

• Engine driveability concerns, poor acceleration from a stop, limited engine RPM range

The oil that is used on these air filter elements may be transferred onto the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor causing contamination of the sensor. As a result, the Grams per Second (GPS) signal from the MAF may be low and any or all of the concerns listed above may occur.

I got one of those dry filters just because of that. There is even a bulitan on a simalar issue but i have to have a mil light on in order for this to apply.

Condition

Some customers may comment on a harsh 1-2 shift with the MIL illuminated.

Diagnosis with a scan tool may reveal a DTC P0894.

Cause

This condition may be caused by a leaking TCC enable solenoid. The TCC enable solenoid is part of the automatic transmission wiring harness.

ive probley only had that happn once. Usally this is from a dead stop, just pulling off from a light. At like 1/4throttle or a little better, the rpm's just go all the way up and somewere along its way to 6k rpm's its in the nutral positon...and or i got no pull at that point untill it goes to the next gear then everything is fine.

I dont know but this is realy anoying cuz i cant get it to do it when someone else is in the car. But today i get the data logger so we can take a snap shot of the pcm to see whats going on inside when this does happen.

ill post up more as thing porgress.

Ok just found out that cuz i own a GMC at a chevy dealer ill have to wait to the ASM (area service manager) comes in to see if we can handle the issue under some sort of warranty. Wich would be awsome, means all i have to do is pay a deductable an then the rest GM will cover.

Ok so apparently whats going to happen now is, the dealer is going to try to replace the tcc harness under some sort of warranty. which is great cuz just means i pay a deductable of $100 for the repair/parts ...ect .

Atleast they stop pointing the finger at the tuner, i wanted them to diaganose the problem before just assuming Diablo caused it. The TSB happened and who ever that happend to didnt even have the problem, so agian the tunner is just amplifing something that might have been there in the begging.

so ill find out soon enough
