How I spent my evening....

If you have been following my "NTB Sucks" thread in the Off-Topic Forum you already know that I had to buy a new-used set of center caps thanks to NTB. I spent over ? on tires and alignment for my Suburban, and they failed to tighten the rear-mounted screws on the center caps, causing me to lose one within two weeks.

Anyway, they couldn't find a replacement so I bought a used set of '77+ center caps, which are slightly different, and they reimbursed me.

I am so demented that I spent the evening polishing these things with chrome polish...but they do look nice!

The problem now is that I need new emblems for the centers to match shiny-new looking chrome...

Do you have a LMC catalog? I think they have them.

Yeah, I've got 5 or 6 catalogs, including LMC. They all seem to cut off at '77 and mine is a '76. The '77 and up caps have a slightly different shape and bolt from the outside. Mine are round in the center extended portion and bolt from behind. I decided to switch to the later style so that I'd have a complete set, and so that I wouldn't lose any more of the old style caps. I will still try to find a nice used old cap so that I have a complete set to install someday when I don't have to drive the Suburban everyday.

I just re-read your message, I think you were actually talking about the center emblems...LMC does have those, and I will probably be ordering a set pretty soon. Probably will wait until I need a couple more items and order all at once.

How about http://www.yearone.com? I have a catalog that I got free from them that covers '67-'87 Chevy and GMC trucks. I got it by calling 1-800-932-7663. That catalog has some different center caps in it. It has sevral listed but only shop pictures of 4 and only two of those fall under the model year your looking for. It took a few weeks for me to get it in the mail though.

I'm trying to remember if I have that one...I think I do...

either way, I'm putting the newer style caps on tonight or tomorrow and putting the old-style caps on the wall with my old Corvette center caps. I decorate my garage with car/truck parts...
