Well guys, since I might be starting the restoration of a 61 C10 Chevrolet, I wondered what you guys though of the 60-61 years in general.  It doesn't seem to be near as popular as the 64-66 years for some reason.  I think alot of people are turned away by the hood bulges.

Now I personally really like the look of the hood.  Not to mention they look different, and not everybody has one.

Here is a profile picture of a 61 4x4, you can kind of see the hood shape I mentioned.

This one gives a better look at the hood.

My first choice is a 64-66, but the "eyebrow" hoods are very distinctive.

I like them and certainly would not turn down an opportunity on one in decent shape!

They kind of remind me of the Impalas from the same era (60-61).  Their styling is a bit gaudy, but it was the thing back in the days, and that's what I love about it!  I saw a neat old 60 or 61 panel station wagon, roughly the same front end styling but with the "bat wings".  Cool looking car!

That red one appears to be in pretty good shape, is that the  one you are planning to restore?

Nope, thats just a picture I found last night.  The truck I might be restoring is in a bit worse shape, it has some rusted areas right in front of the doors that need to be taken care of right away.  Its my understanding, from talking to other owners of these trucks, that the rear section of the front fender is the main rust area.  The rocker panels on this truck appear to only have some minor surface rust.  I've got some tips on where else to look for rust, and if they aren't bad I will try to get to work on the truck.

I don't know much about the truck, other then it has a I6 motor and a 4-speed manual.  It almost looks like it ran when my uncle parked it, so I'm hoping I can get it to run with alittle work.  My main problem is going to be finding a place to work on it.  My ole man wants the two of us to fix the truck up (he really likes this body style), but he says it wont be done at our house.  So my first order of business is trying to find a place to work.  LOL

I don't know how this topic got back to the top, but I can assure that this project has gone down the tubes, DigUout.  Ever met the type of guys that have old vehicles sitting around, and never do something with them.  But when you start wanting to buy it, they say they want to fix it up someday.  Well thats what my uncle is like.  LOL  So basically this pickup isn't gonna get fixed up by me, but I've got my eye on another old truck to work on.

But yes, the tag on the side of the door says Apache 10.

I was young at the time these were new.  I remember how I hated the fact that the entire hood covered the fenders and an end to an era.  I still like to see some resembelance to  fenders. (even in cars)  A buldge on the top of the hood helps BUT NOT on the front.

Lots of old trucks out there and maybe your Uncle is attached to this one.  No law saying a person has to give up something just because they aren't paying close atttention to it.
