My first truck was a '62 Chevy, SWB, Fleetside, 4x2. had the stock 235 I-6, three spd man converted to floor shift. I didn't have a muffler on it and it was about 8 or 9 different colors due to swapped body panels and primer.

I loved that truck!

My next Chevy was a '65 LWB, Fleetside, 4x2, with the factory 283 and three on the tree. It had 3.73 rear gears and there was a sticker on the dash not to exceed 50mph.

I put a rebuilt 350/350 in it, disc brakes from a 1/2 ton van, 3.08 rear gear, and drove it from California to Maine. Had to sell it in Me., needed cash.

I later found out that it was actually a pretty rare "tow package" from the factory that I had ruined!

Live and learn, I guess!

Sound like some pretty cool trucks...I think most of us have had one or more vehicles we wish we had kept.  My dad had a '66 Impala convertible he bought new with a 396.  I sure wish we had it today!

When I lived in Oklahoma, I bought a '67 Custom Sport Truck.  I had no idea that I was such a dumbazz for selling that truck.  The car lot I bought it from had painted it  abeautiful metallic blue and put a new interior in it.  It came with a 327/Turbo 400, factory air, CST badging, LWB, new wood bed floor.  It had headers and an intake manifold That truck hauled azz!!

I put chrome wheels 70 series fat street itres and glasspacks on it.  I kick myself every time I see that body style. (sniff)

Anybody in the Ponca City, Blackwell, Tonkawa area seen that truck lately?  I'd love to get it back.:)

The Suburban actually belongs to my wife, it's in her name and she wanted it.  We bought it for ?.  The heat didn't work, missing a windshield wiper arm, no glove box (no codes either), speedo didn't work, tires were bald, rims didn't match, was hit broadside between the driver's side rear door and wheel well, front doors from an earlier truck (they seem a little bit smaller, don't fit well), transmission was freshly "rebuilt" at Aamco (I fixed the leaks, and the speedo problem was related to Aamco).  It also seems that somone put in a GM short block and got rid of the Electronic Spark Control stuff, on the engine at least.  We put new tires on it, dual exhaust w/glasspacks (just to be obnoxious), fixed and replaced everything that was wrong, except the T-bone.  I want to fix the T-bone, but my wife likes it.  It is nice having something you aren't worried about getting scratched or lightly dented.:) Whoever removed the ESC also disabled the lock up on the torque converter, fixed that too.  After we got the lock up fixed (which has a long story involved with it), we saw 18mpg once!  (doing 55 on the highway, ugh!)

I think the next things to be repaired is going to frame shop to straighten out the T-bone, and rebuild the rear axle (maybe throw in a limited slip differential!), fix or replace the front doors, and mabe fix the T-bone.  The wife was saying that passing people was kinda difficult, maybe some Edlebrock parts could fix that!

Cool!  I love to see old trucks still on the road, sounds like this one has come back from a near death experience.

Check out this link for what I have done to my Suburban engine wise.  I have an error in the link from my main page, so I'll post the link here until I get it fixed.

Pretty cool!I wish my Suburban looked that good!  It's kinda ugly, but in a proud kind of way.  Like that first black eye  maybe?  I'll have to get some pictures to post.  I don't have a web site, how can I post them here?

I want to do some performance mods too.  I want to do cam, lifters (maybe higher ratio rockers), intake, new carb, and headers, maybe some flowmasters.  Nah, probaby stick with the glasspacks!
