  1. GM recalls 160,000 pickup trucks in Canada for fire risks, nothing announced in US yet As of right now there is a recall for all GM 1500's years 2014-2018 that have both a rear window defogger and a power sliding rear window. https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/gm-recall-pickup-trucks-canada-fire-risks/ That recall has not been expanded to the US. I Just got off the phone with GM and filed a request to have the recall expanded to the US. I would encourage everyone who this applies to in this forum to do the same. It takes about 5-10 min but could save us all a lot of hassle later. HAVE YOUR VIN READY Call GM @1 (866) 522-9559 Reference this recall number: Manufacturer Recall Number N192220470 (This is the recall number from GM in Canada) (reference: https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/7/VRDB-BDRV/search-recherche/detail.aspx?lang=eng&mk=0&md=0&fy=0&ty=9999&ft=&ls=0&sy=0&rn=2019325&cf=SearchResult&pg=50) They will tell you that the recall only applies in Canada and not to your VIN. Express to them that the recall needs to be expanded to the US since our vehicles are also affected. Please post here if you have called GM (just so we can keep track) Please also post if you have experienced this issue (smoke, glass breakage, etc) Affected components: electrical – rear window defroster on trucks equipped with the power sliding rear window. Affected vehicles: 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2015-2019 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado LD 2014-2018 GMC Sierra 1500 2015-2019 GMC Sierra HD 2014-2018 GMC Sierra LD It may be a good idea to sticky this topic.
  2. Hey everyone, I'm new here. Looks like a great place. I have a problem with my drivers side master window switch. My driver window wont roll up or down but the rear and passenger sides do. I'm getting power to all the tines in the switch except the driver side 2 prongs. I replaced the switch and the result is the same. I tested the motor with a battery to the leads and the motor works. Also. the window lockout button doesn't work on the original switch but when I put the new switch in it fixed THAT problem. Do you know if there is a relay or fuse that separates the driver window from the others? Any help would be greatful. I have a 2013 Silverado 1500 LT Ext Cab 4x4 with EXT Cab.
  3. For Sale is my sliding back glass off my 2018 GMC Sierra Denali. It is heated and comes from a power sliding window setup. The window currently has a 30% ceramic tint over the glass which could be removed if desired. Glass is in fantastic condition, only selling because I broke one of the fixed windows and my new window is aftermarket, and this glass is not compatible even as a spare. Asking $100 Shipped OBO.
  4. Hello. I had problems with my heated seat and had to change the Master Door Window switch on the driver side. when i took the old switch out the the door chime was working. after a few moments it stopped working. the next day i got the new switch and installed it and the only thing it would turn on was the driver window. Locks didnt work from that door, passenger windows dont work from that door. i unhooked the battery for a few moments to see if it would fix it. Now im getting warning on my screen as in, service 4 wheel drive, service tire monitoring system, hood open (even though its closed) My seat wont move on the driver side.Blinkers dont work, Break lights stay on. i can turn the key on and the lights will come on but the switch to turn them off and to parking dont work they just stay on. Fog lights dont work. FOB key wont work. I have no clue what happened. anyone have any guidance on this? 2011 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ 5.3L V8 Crew Cab
  5. My rear drivers side window would not come down. This just started the other day. It would not work with the front or rear switch. no humming from the motor. Fuse is OK for the left side windows. I swapped out the switch from the passenger side and still didnt work. However the driver's switch worked fine on the other side. I then removed the regulator assembly by having to cut the cable since the window was up. I removed the motor and bench tested it and it ran with 12V put to it. This leaves just the main front door switch assembly. My question is would a bad front switch cause the back switch not to work?? Also when I press the switch , I get a brief buzzing sound from the switch. Also with the motor connected, it still isnt turning so it wasn't a jammed cable on the regulator. I am getting to the end of what I can troubleshoot, and I hope it doesn't turn out to be a bad wire in the door harness. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Working on 2014 GMC Denali, lost all control of windows from driver door master switch. Purchased new switch, no change, found (green/yellow) wire snapped in accordian sleeve between door. Spliced wire at each end of harness and ran new wire. Now have control of every window BUT my driver door.
  7. Hey guys I'm having problem with my 1995 k1500. The radio/blower/windshield wipers/windows will not work at all....The hazard switch on my truck is broken off and missing....I was driving down the road and my hazards all of a sudden turned on and wouldn't shut off I tried pushing what was left of the button down to make them stop and nothing worked. once I got home I noticed my window would not roll up and my passenger wouldn't roll down. I had to disconnect the battery to get them to stop I ended up pulling the steering column apart and replaced the hazard button along with the turn signal switch. I plugged battery back in and still had no power to those items mentioned..hazards shut on and off though. I replaced my ignition switch and negative battery cable and still have no power to the mentioned items...any help would go a long way!!!
  8. I was just driving back from vacation early morning and had my arm on the window and noticed something flapping in the wind. Looked to my passenger side and nothing so then I started looking in the mirror and noticed I had a door pillar cover flapping, particularly when I'd get above 65mph. Brought it to the dealer and when I was there we realized 4 out of the 6 had this problem. Service advisor indicated this was a known issue and its a replacement part with a new design. Was under warranty so I lucked out and got free replacements. The covers are secured by a bolt at the bottom and its the middle or top that flaps. I thought I'd share as I had 4 out that I didn't realize and they must have been doing this for some time. You can easily test by just pushing on it in the middle and top and if there is any give, it probably needs to be replaced. I've seen on other forums some people use silicon to fill it if its out of warranty and it seems to hold.
  9. This weekend someone slammed my passenger door probably to hard in my opinion. Not sure if this is the cause of the problem but the issue did start soon after. The Window and mirror lost power first intermittently, now completely. I checked the fuse and also didn’t see anything obvious as far as wires being loose or broken from the harness. Any suggestions or recommendations for a fix would be greatly appreciated.
  10. I am in process of blacking out my 2014 Sierra Crew Cab. I have the chrome window trim at the moment. I see GM sells the Chrome for $450 and the Black plastic for $185. I am hoping I can find someone that wants to make a trade plus some cash. Or... you have black takes offs and already have chrome installed I'll but them direct and sell my chrome take offs separately.
  11. My passenger side window on my 2014 GMC Sierra get stuck on I try to put it up. It goes up a little bit and then stops and gets stuck and then goes up a bit more and stops. I took the door apart and I can't see where the problem is. It moves so I don't think its the motor or regulator but I'm not sure. Anyone got any ideas?
  12. So I think someone is trying to steal my truck. For the second time in a couple of months, I've discovered my window trim pulled up out of the channel right above the door handle. Unfortunately, my truck won't fit inside my garage since I added the lift. Is there any way I can prevent them from using such a tool to open my door?
