My truck has 131K miles on it. After an oil change by the dealership. I started the truck the next day and noticed a very loud squeal from the engine. It goes away after about 20 secs. But if i drive and give it a good acceleration, you hear the squeal around 3500 to 4500 RMP. Movie 3_2.mp4

Hey everybody, Has anybody come across a good reliable website for OEM genuine GM parts? I have seen many different websites online claiming to sell GM parts direct from General Motors. However, I have looked further into these websites & have found many bad reviews relating to them. Along with people who have had their money stolen by these websites. I figured somebody out there must know a rock solid website to order OEM GM parts from. Any suggestions would be a big help for many people! --- My specific reason for this question is because of a off-roading accident with my 16 Silverado 2500HD WT. My air deflector & front bumper were damaged & require replacement. I figured if i'm going to replace the front bumper, I might as well replace it with the OEM front bumper equipped with fog light ports. However, many components are required & it will all cost a bit. The last thing I want to do is get scammed by a hack website or read about more people who have gotten scammed. Thanks!

Zane Merva Executive Editor & Publisher - GM-Trucks.com February 4th, 2019 The Detroit Free Press is reporting that GM will layoff as many as 4,000 people white-collar positions today. Dubbed as "Black Monday" by an investment strategist, the cuts that may start today are a result of a low take rate on an employee offered buy-out announced in October. I can personally attest to the talent lost at the company in the last few years. Most of the people that I had the pleasure of communicating with for the past twenty years at General Motors no longer work for the company. Most received early retirement buyouts and will move on to other roles at other companies. Those cut today won't be so lucky to get that buyout.

Automotive News reported that the EPA also says that the testing will include rental and customer vehicles later to ensure that the diesel emissions are in-line with expectations. Expect confusion like this to be common until the EPA sorts out the mess Volkswagen's dirty diesel cheat-fleet has created. In related news today, VW now says that Skoda, SEAT and some commercial diesels made by VW are fitted with the software that over-rides emissions controls. On-road testing has not been part of EPA evaluations in the past. Rather, vehicles are run on a test stand including a dynamometer. Most certifications are carried out by the automakers themselves following strict guidelines for data collection and reporting. Hyundai and MINI were the latest automakers to have discrepancies between the conclusion and the data. Both were ordered to re-label their vehicles' MPG ratings. Ford had some similar issues. To find such discrepancies, EPA does pull and re-test some vehicles itself from each automaker from each model year. For a comprehensive look at the on-vehicle testing that is to come, and to gain a better understanding of the types of diesel emissions controls now needed to comply, please check out this report.

Second, Nobody at General Motors will be charged with a crime. Like the similar Toyota settlement, the charges will be deferred. GM simply has to not do this type of thing again, and nobody will be held responsible. According to AP, the crimes its employees could have been charged with are "... wire fraud and scheming to conceal material facts from a government regulator." Last, GM will pay $900 million to the U.S. government in a penalty about 30% lower than that which Toyota paid. The penalty represents less than 2% of the tax payment deferrals the company was allowed to keep as part of its 2009 bankruptcy and less than a tenth of the direct cost of the bailout paid for by the U.S. taxpayers.

When asked by a network news anchor about the protests surrounding his refusal, Kid Rock reportedly responded "Please tell the people protesting that they can kiss my ....," according to the Detroit Free Press. GM for its part is backing Kid Rock. Saying in a statement "We are committed to our sponsorship of Kid Rock's summer tour and are confident that he will provide his fans, many of whom are proud Chevrolet owners, with a spectacular concert experience that celebrates American Freedom." GM Trucks scanned three years of images on the Kid Rock Facebook page today. There are no visible Confederate flag images shown. On the contrary, the Stars and Stripes is one of his frequently used images. Images courtesy of the Kid Rock public Facebook page photos section.

The Irish Times is reporting that FCA US may be trying to line up GM's investors to force a discussion of a merger. Accordingly, the report goes on to say that GM is enlisting advisors (also called lawyers) to be sure it is ready if it comes to a forced merger, buyout or some other form of pressure to merge. Sergio Marchionne is one of the most accomplished heads of any automaker. Although very soft-spoken, he generally gets what he wants and his views are often ahead of the curve. He is well known to have said that car buyers don't care about things like engines and transmissions and that the larger automakers should simply team up to achieve even greater economies of scale. You are reading this at an enthusiast site, so you and I DO CARE about engines and other truck parts. Be honest though, most of our neighbors and relatives can't look at a car and tell which wheels are driven. How would you feel about a merger between Ram's owner and the folks at GM that make Chevy and GMC trucks?

Chevrolet also confirmed that the Bolt will be developed with two goals in mind. A 200-mile all-electric range and a $30,000 price tag. While the production vehicle will share the concept's name, don't expect them to look exactly the same. The production version will most likely undergo some styling and functional changes before it goes on sale. The Bolt will be produced Michigan at the Orion Assembly facility. The company simultaneously announced a $200-million investment to get ready for Bolt production. Orion will receive $160-million for tooling and equipment while Pontiac Metal Center Facilities will receive $40-million for new dies. The Bolt will be produced at the same facility that currently produces the Buick Verano and Chevrolet Spark Chevrolet has not yet announced a model year or on sale target for the Bolt. General Motors Says Leveraging the industry-leading battery technology found in the Chevrolet Volt and Spark EV, the Bolt EV concept was developed as a game-changing, long-range pure electric for all 50 states, designed to offer more than a GM-estimated 200 miles of range at a target price of around $30,000.

Here's the full GM Press Release GM Surpasses 400 EV Charge Stations at U.S. Facilities Automaker has nearly 160 stations located at various manufacturing facilities 2014-05-20 INDIANAPOLIS – Based on growing employee demand, General Motors today announced that it has installed 401 electric vehicle charging stations at its U.S. production and business facilities. More than 20 percent of the stations use electricity generated from solar canopies to help charge employee vehicles. The majority of the stations are located at GM’s large engineering and corporate facilities in Michigan, where employee EV ownership is growing steadily. All charge stations are available free of charge to GM employees and visitors. “GM’s commitment to installing a workplace charging infrastructure is among the most expansive of any corporation in the U.S.,” said Britta Gross, director of GM advanced vehicle commercialization policy. “Workplace charging is one of the most important things a company can do to raise plug-in electric vehicle awareness and energize employees. “Once employees see how easy it is to plug in at home and work, and they realize the fuel savings, plug-in electric vehicles like the Chevy Volt begin to sell themselves.” In addition to the workplace charging, GM has another 400 charge spots dedicated exclusively to vehicle development and testing. Chevrolet and Cadillac dealers have installed approximately 5,900 charge stations at their locations for owner use – 17 of these dealerships use solar charging canopies. ”Workplace charging is now part of GM’s corporate sustainability plan and our employees want to be part of this positive change,” Gross said. “The key for any company is to take the first step and make it simple for employees to engage - in our case we started with outlets and free charging.” GM’s charging count follows the U.S. Department of Energy’s announcement that 75 businesses have committed to participate in its Workplace Charging Challenge to install charging stations for their employees. The Workplace Charging Challenge, of which GM is a founding member, seeks to persuade America’s employers to commit to provide electric vehicle charging access to employees through partnership, advocacy and promotion. “GM is an example of a partner who not only has more than 400 workplace charging stations deployed, but also is actively out recruiting other employer partners for the Challenge,” said Reuben Sarkar, deputy assistant secretary for transportation, U.S. Department of Energy, told attendees at the annual Electric Drive Transportation Association conference here.

General Motors has announced a milestone in the company's efforts to build out a nation-wide electric vehicle charging station system. The company has now installed 401-charging stations across the United States, with 20% of them powered by solar electricity.
