  1. I have what I swear to be an exhaust leak from the header or where it connects to the cat but the dealer said it's a normal sound. I don't hear it at idle but under light acceleration or deceleration, it sounds like a 20 yr old Ford work van. Anyone have a similar sound that's apparently normal for a 6.2?? I also have a loud lifter ticking/knocking noise. It happens every morning and if I let it sit long enough during the day. Thanks in advance. Here's a video of the lifter noise. https://youtu.be/t9UFIEB1TWI
  2. my 04' Silverado with 5.3L has given me more grief then good. and now she flashes the service engine light a few times just randomly, starts to run crappy like shes gonna stall then comes out of it and now drips black liquid from exhaust tip. just replaced upstream O2 sensor cuz she ran like a modified stock car. I just want to fix what's broken and not everything possible in the lineup cuz its costing me a fortune. any thoughts to help me out guys? This girl is fed up!
  3. Alright, before you say you don’t hear anything let me explain first. This video posted below is my 2021 Trail Boss 3500k miles and has the most annoying exhaust sound. I know there’s some serious pro’s on here who could tell me what’s going on. Essentially any time I start it up high RPM, accelerate, or decrease RPM’s I’m greeted with this annoying metallic rattling noise coming from exhaust. Took it to dealer who claims it’s normal (per-usual) and says it’s the liters I can hear in the exhaust tone. They checked exhaust donuts and heat shields and found no issue. However you can hear a rattle and what sounds like an exhaust leak. Was told it’s a flapper but it’s not, flapper is toward back passenger side. This is front passenger side. I could best describe it as escaping air coming from somewhere near the manifold I’d assume. Almost like a metallic farting exhaust noise for lack of better description. Videos to follow of noise while commuting.
  4. 2011 Silverado, 5.3L 1500 LT. I noticed that the driver side FRONT exhaust bolt is broken off. I can only stick a probe in the hole about 1/4". I assume the head sheared off below the flange. i know this is a common issue, but 99% of the time its the rear bolt. Is there an easy fix? they sell a bracket for the rear bolt breakage, but is there anything for the front? or do I need to bite the bullet and pay a shop to get it out? appreciate any input. thanks
  5. Beating a dead horse here... Have a Denali 6.2 that I just purchased from CarMax (with an extended warranty/Thank God!) Tapping sound from the start. Ran two tanks of 91 octane to eliminate possible octane knock. Took me past the 7 day return policy and 30 day standard warranty with CarMax. Didn't really bother me because of the factory warranty. Truck looked brand new. Even had the wrapping on the DVD player. Popped the hood and started looking for an exhaust leak. I found a donut/flange laying on the crossmember. Took it to the dealership. Found that the truck had two new fuel injectors and a new Catalytic Converter. Someone was searching for the cause of the sound. Dealership tightened some gaskets and said the truck was good to go. It made the deafening tapping noise on the way home. I returned the truck to the dealership. Even though I have purchased 4 vehicles from them in the past to include a current 2019 Arcadia -- they had no loaner for me. They kept the vehicle for two more days. Could not find the cause of the noise. I went back to speak with the service manager. He was not happy. He went on a ride with me and heard the noise. Claimed it was the transmission searching for the proper gear. Weird because the noise happens constantly -- to include start up and idle. Told me his 6.2 made same noises and it was normal. Finally took it back to CarMax. They sent it back to same dealer with a promise to pay for diagnostics. Miraculously, dealer finds lifters to be the issue. I'll keep updated on status of cam, etc. I think I'll trade this lemon in on a diesel or anything without AFM. Will also not be purchasing from Bob Howard GMC in Oklahoma City.
