Hey all - new member here. Picked up a '15 suburban LS from a mechanic about 4 weeks ago. Though I bought a solid truck. 4 days after I brought it home the transmission started acting up. Replaced it. Then my wife found water in the drivers seat footwell after a rain storm. We thought maybe it was a fluke. Had a torrential downpour and lots of water in the footwell. So I read about the shark fin issue. Pulled the headliner down - sure enough the bolt wasn't even finger tight. I cleaned everything up and applied urethane sealant around the gaskets. Then I got the hose out and was baffled when water ran down the A pillar airbag. So I started pulling trim off the top of the truck. I found a small "pucker" or void in the roof panel seal. I cleaned it out and poured some water into it and it ran straight into the truck and down the headliner to the A pillar. So I cleaned that out and applied urethane there too. Took the hose to the truck for a good 5 minutes. No water. Strange factory flaw. Figured I'd share since I know water issues are a big complaint. If the sharkfin fix, sunroof drain fixes, and others haven't worked for you - check your roof panel seals. For urethane I recommend Sikaflex, or Lexel, or even some of the Henkel roofing stuff. Silicone is fine - but it doesn't stick very well unless everything is perfect, and I don't like solving the same problem twice. Cheers!

Ok so I want to put a post together about the onstar, XM, sharkfin, and whatever else antenna we have on the K2xx platform. I know there have been water leaks plaguing all years from 14-18. All the posts here I have seen, don’t really have any info or “the dealer fixed it”. A lot of people have commented that there is a break in the seal in the rear of the antenna. Please understand that is not a water seal for water intrusion into the cabin. That is only a rubber trim from the plastics of the antenna to the metal roof skin. There is a foam seal that goes around the wires and the mount that does all of the sealing of the elements. When the foam seal deteriorates is when the water issues start. I will explain with pics a little further down in the post. So I have a 14 Denali, vehicle was Daily driven, until 2 months ago, has 90,xxx miles on it, sat out side during the day, and garage kept at night. I have never had any water issues from the antenna (or the 3rd brake light for that matter) Here you can see the square seal around the home in the roof was still sealing with no issues One of the reasons this post happened was because I found a color matched shark fin brand new for VERY cheap. And my Denali has the black plastic fin from the factory.

This is a long essay of problems. Please follow along. I bought this SUV from a used car dealer that hunted for this exact perfect specimen of an SUV. I am around these cars daily. This is the only SUV many A-listers will be driven around in. I knew this is the only SUV for me. It was perfect when I got it. UNTIL it wasn’t. Some are small issues. Some are huge. One could have killed me family. I went through Chevrolet exclusively for remedies. The first time I went to a mechanic outside of Chevrolet, I was told Chevrolet will no longer assist me with my issues. Mind you all I did was take it elsewhere for a second opinion. should I list the problems in different topics or all at once?
