  1. Hello! 21 RST, just bought a seat set from a 21 LTZ. I read on here about the WAMS programming and was able to get my hands on a cheap set! Well, now they are en route to me and WAMS is unable to do them now. Has anyone else been able to get the programming done? Thanks!!
  2. Hey all, first post and hoping this can help out. As many of you know and or finding out, the 24's and up are apparently a new style Firewall Grommet system leading into the truck from behind the battery. But not to worry, this will hopefully be the clearest new how to so far without a youtuber making a video of this. The truck now, instead of having a nipple coming from the firewall grommet on the engine bay side, is now a plastic bezel. The nipple can be located from under the dash still, however, and is still just as easy as an install as before. Pic 1 is from the engine bay. You can see the channel where the wire will exit/enter the truck. Pic 2 is from inside the truck and what is looks like if you peel the grommet back, which does not need to be done because then you'll need to replace the rubber around the grommet to around the plastic shroud which is not the easiest thing to do. Just use an exacto #1 and cut a plus from the inside of the truck in the nipple. Pic one shows where the wire will exit. Pic 3 shows a 4ga wire in it. It fits 4ga wire really well. No sure about 2 or 0... you may have to trim the nipple off then just make the plus/X cut bigger. I also did not need to remove the battery to do any of this. Just work from mid engine with a ladder/step stool. Not the side of the truck. Step 1. Take out the multifunction power supply converter box and bracket that is located behind the glove box and bolted to the kick panel right underneath the firewall grommet. The two tabs holding this box in need to be pulled towards you (the rear of the truck) and slid up. They will be blocked by the A/C fan I believe it is, but nevertheless cannot be pulled all the way up enough. Carefully pull it out. You'll have to finagle it a bit, but the box will come out. This is the only way to access the second 10mm nut that's on the stud holding the bracket in place. You do not need to remove the wire harness. I didn't. Remove both 10mm nuts with an extended socket. Step 2. I used an exacto like #1 blade and sliced a plus sign in the power wire pass through nipple. Step 3. Electrical tape a long zip tie to the wire. Use a little soapy water or some lubricant (I used just a little petroleum jelly) to slide the power wire through the hole. I went from the inside of the truck and pushed it to the outside (inside the engine bay). Continue install as you would with all the other older amp/power wire install guides out there. ...Special Notes... You may need to remove the plastic cover kickplate that is plastic welded to the floorboard part of the carpet placeholder cover. I did this by removing the fuse box cover plate then removing the 8mm screws. This allows you to pull the panel backwards and pop out the kickplate. The floorboard part must be pulled upwards. Do not try to separate these two pieces at the seam! They are plastic welded together. For another good run through check out here: https://www.trailboss.org/threads/firewall-grommet-change-in-the-2024-lt-trail-boss-for-power-wire.2109/ Hope my photos are more helpful.
  3. New to the this forum but a seasoned vet on others. I’m posting to see if anyone else is having brake issues after the TSB for the brakes on the 3500 L5P. If not to keep an eye out. Long story short, we just finished a 12 day camping trip up the coast of California. On the last day we headed home which is 4 hours away pulling our 5th wheel. (2023 Momentum 395M). 30 minutes from home, We were getting on the interchange and noticed some clear white smoke corresponding with my break pumps. On the third pump I lower my trailer breaks thinking it was set too high cause of the steep grades. Pumped again and that’s when I got a steady white smoke. Pulled over right away and inspected to find fluid leaking in front of the driver rear tire and a small fire. First thing I do is shut off the truck. Run around and get my wife out of the truck so we can kids and dogs out. As I turn around my 4 year is strapped in his car seat with flames all up the rear door and back glass. It happened so slow and fast at the same time. All I could think about is that glass breaking and the oxygen sucking the flames in and watching my son burn to death in front of my eyes and I can’t do a damn thing. I did indeed get him out and the family in to the trailer. We were stuck in what I call the kill box now. It’s 2 major freeways that interchange in to a 2 lane highway with at least 1/4 of concrete barrier on both sides with no turn outs not too much further up. We were lucky to stop where we where. We tried to put out the fire out with 4 extinguishers between the truck driver, tow truck driver and myself with no anvil. At this point I have to either get my family out of the trailer or unhook and try to drive off. Well ….. we were able to unhook. Jumped in the truck knowing turning on the fuel pump was a terrible idea. The thought of my family sitting on the upper deck on top of 2 propane bombs under them just gave me the push I needed to commit. Turned her on and floored it. The truck had exploded with me in it. I still remember seeing the flames all around, the heat and smoke in the cab. I was able to exit the vehicle after that excess fuel to burn off. I suspect that the initial fire started on the passenger rear and moved to the driver rear. As there are tire stamps from the right rear some something hot, melting or leaking for over 80 feet. Where I stopped first. You could see that it was leaking where the tires would be. Puddle is wet on the right side and the left is burned. if fuel was leaking, there would be a fuel burn line or fire. This is what I think happened but we will have to wait and see what the experts say. We are very fortunate that there were no injury or fatalities. Insurance company has taken custody of the truck and investigation is pending. I only have 17k left on the loan and had 15k of parts and labor in to it. Mods were as follows. 35x12.5 wrapped on 20” Fuel Triton wheel, K&N drop in filter, S&B 62 gallon fuel tank, Retrax hard roll up bed cover, B&W 5th wheel hitch and custom mudflaps. All I know is that I almost lost my family, trailer and truck that I’m most likely going to lose on. 3500 was purchased certified used last June around 14,000 miles and burned down last Thursday with about 16k on it. Now the adrenaline and shock has worn off. The anger and ptsd is kicking in. We wouldn’t have gotten out with our skin suits with out the help of the kings if all kings …God, the 2 Good Samaritan and our great first responders. In the end of the day I have my family and health and thankful for that. I’ll be posting my outcome, as soon as I hear back and case is closed.
  4. Adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, and auto high beams not working on 2021 Silverado High country.. Water pump recently went out had to get it towed to dealer they replaced it but when I got the car back these don’t work. Third time this truck has been in the shop don’t really feel like taking it back. First time 4WD was broken.. second time my lifters collapsed. Any suggestions on fixing these tech features or should I just take back to dealer.
  5. 2019 Silverado high country truck with a gentle 42,000 miles…. Babied. Shift to park message displayed, was difficult to get the massage and the “dining” to go away. Cost me $341 to have it fixed, the dealer said GM helped $ome.. they said 30% with the cost. I’m a couple months outside of the 3 year warranty… lucky me. I feel I shouldn’t have had to pay a cent ….($70K Truck!). But they have trump and you pay… and get screwed…. without even a kiss… even if you own a C7 Corvette. Actually, this problem showed up occasionally / rarely, about 2 years ago… I sort of ignored it as it seemed to always go away. But not recently, last two weeks every time I’d stop the truck. My mistake was not taking a photo of the display two years ago…. Possibly I could have had GM cover the repairs…take note. They replaced the entire “Transmission Control Assembly” (TCA), as you all know most all of today’s dealer mechanics don’t fix anything… they just replace parts. The TCA looks like it located inn the upper part of the steering column connected to or very close / connected to the shift PNRDL lever. See the photos, it appears to me the problem is /was in the bent micro switch lever (flimsy) interfering with the metal frame of the TCA. I believe replacing the $10 micro switch would have solved the problem. If the replaced one is like the old TCA, likely I’ll be replacing it in a few years. I can’t help in how to access the TCA, but though you might like a couple of the photos of the unit.
  6. I purchased a 2021 Silverado Crew Cab High Country 4WD about 4 months ago from Watson Chevrolet in Tucson Arizona. Within week of driving the truck I began noticing some pretty strange sporadic things happening. I started video taping the issues when I could to document what was happening. Ticking noise coming from the engine when cold starting, sporadically have hourglass on stereo saying “loading” it would continue until the engine was turned off and back on then it was OK. “Park Assist” Error message sporadically popping up while driving down the road, Horn honking (three short honks) for no reason while sitting in traffic at a red light. At 900 miles I reached out to the dealer and told them these concerns and issues I was experiencing. The service manager explain to me “the truck has a lot of technology and it just needs to learn your driving habits, you just need to keep driving it” At 11,000 and 3 months after purchasing I get the loud lifter noise, “Service parking brake”message, “steering assist reduced” message, “Service ESC light” and “check engine light” I drove it into the other dealership located in Tucson (O’Reilly Chevrolet), they keep the truck for about three weeks and “replace lifters on one bank and 1 bent push rod” and tell me that they couldn’t duplicate any of the other issues however they did a firmware upgrade and everything should be fine. One week after getting the truck back (11500 miles) I get another check engine light, Keep in mind I can still hear the lifters ticking when starting it first thing in the morning. I take back to the dealer after a week of a being in the shop, They tell me “The check engine light was because there was multiple cylinder misfire and it was the opposite bank from the lifters they replaced” however they can’t duplicate the problem so there’s nothing they can do. They admitted that the computer had logged over 200 misfires on one cylinder and that’s what made the check engine light turned on, then they go on to tell me they can’t duplicate the problem so there’s nothing they can do. I asked them about the ticking noise when starting and the tell me “that’s normal, it’s not lifter noise you’re hearing, it’s the new technology fuel pumps GM is using that’s making that noise” Other issue I have had is the rotors on all four wheels at times will turn blue and discolored as if the brakes and her have been completely overheated. But it’s not the entire rotor It’s only the center inch of all rotors. The inside edge and outside edges look normal. I have a purchased over 11 band new (Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota) Trucks in the past 30 years this is by far the worst freaking vehicle I have ever purchased.

  8. Bought a High Country grill or grille on EBay. Swapped my honeycomb grill or grille out because it was a pain to clean. If anyone wants to buy my chrome honeycomb grill or grille let me know. It was a fairly easy swap. I love the look.
  9. New 2020 Silverado 2500 diesel, newly retired, bought truck to tow a travel trailer. I've been a GM customer and amateur mechanic for over 50 years. I had not driven a 3/4 ton truck for decades, when I test drove a new 2500 I simply was stunned by the ride quality, to say the mechanical engineers have made improvements would be a world class understatement. The power, ride quality and tow features (mirrors and cameras) sold me within weeks of shopping. The size is a little off-putting but after only 8 weeks I have compensated for parking and maneuvering a very large pickup. The truck draws some jokes about its size but I absolutely love the towing performance, it is a worthwhile trade-off for me.
  10. Hello. I’m new to this so any help would be appreciated. I have a 2019 Silverado Custom Trail Boss. I recently saw someone on social media who upgraded the entire interior of their Custom Trail Boss with High Country interior. My main question is about how I go about putting a new High Country cluster in my custom trail boss. I’ll also need the upgraded steering wheel with the buttons on the right side to toggle through the screen. Do I need to get it programmed to work? If so, where can I get that done? Any information on this topic will help me a lot because I can’t seem to find much information anywhere on the internet. Thank you very much for your time. I appreciate your input.
  11. I am looking for tires for my truck. I have a 2016 1500 high country. 3 in. Lift with leveling kit. I am looking for tires. I have 35x12.5xr22 toyo open country m/t tires now and I want a quieter tire but still the aggressive look to them.
  12. The end of December, I noticed a small amount of oil on the garage floor under the front of rear differential of my 2WD, 2019 High Country. It appeared to be a pinion seal leak. The Dealership concurred and ordered a new front yoke and pinion seal. Today, the Dealership called and informed me that GM did not have the parts so they sent a Complete new rear Differential as a replacement!! Now they need my truck for a Full day to swap rear ends. Appears to be an EXPENSIVE way to replace a $10 part, but GM must know Best!?
  13. Selling a set of 2016-18 Silverado LTZ headlights they have black trim, 1300$ Plus shipping hmu if interested thanks will post some pictures later
  14. I have a 2019 GMC Denali Ultimate. I believe I have the most up to date software in 803. I was at my Chevy dealership with a friend and he was driving a High Country and I noticed the Heads up Display showed audio information and other information when changing channels, etc. My Denali does not do that and I wondered if anyone else knew or saw that the same? Not to say this bad, but would the Silverado have additional features the Sierra would not? I can't believe the Denali would not have "all" the possible features considering one is paying more for it, but from what I have seen, this information is not shown on the GMC's. I have brought this item up previous as those features are shown on GMC's website when advertising features of the Sierra and mentioned it to my dealer but they say there is no way they can find out from General Motors. Can anyone confirm if their Sierra/Silverado shows audio information on their Heads Up Display? Thank you in advance.

  18. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 12-6-2018 Earlier this week Chevrolet released the first photos of the 2020 Silverado HD in LT trim. The response was mixed. Today, the brand is trying again, showing off the better looking HIgh Country trim level. In total, the new Silverado HD will have five unique trim levels. We've already seen the LT, and here are the images of the all-new range-topping Silverado HD High Country. “Truck customers are very clear: They want the perfect truck for them and not a ‘one size fits most’ truck compromised for the masses,” said Mike Simcoe, vice president, Global Design, General Motors. “That insight shaped our strategy for the next-generation Silverado franchise, providing customers more differentiation between the Silverado 1500 and the Silverado HD as well as more personalization and differentiation between individual trim levels.” The two-tone metallic trim you see here is exclusive to High Country models. Read Chevrolet's Press Release On the 2020 Silverado HD High Country CHEVROLET REVEALS 2020 SILVERADO HD HIGH COUNTRY, SECOND OF FIVE DISTINCT MODELS FOR ALL-NEW PICKUP Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ and High Country models offer different combinations of design, features and technologies tailored for different customers DETROIT — Chevrolet knows no two truck customers are the same, and as such continues to expand its truck franchise with five distinct trim levels for the all-new Silverado HD: Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ and range-topping High Country. This follows the expanded range of customer choices on the all-new Silverado 1500, which has eight distinct trim levels. As with the 2019 Silverado 1500, each 2020 Silverado HD model offers a different level of design, features and technology to meet the individual and rigorous demands of HD owners. “Truck customers are very clear: They want the perfect truck for them and not a ‘one size fits most’ truck compromised for the masses,” said Mike Simcoe, vice president, Global Design, General Motors. “That insight shaped our strategy for the next-generation Silverado franchise, providing customers more differentiation between the Silverado 1500 and the Silverado HD as well as more personalization and differentiation between individual trim levels.” For example, each of the Silverado HD models features distinct exterior design details including grilles featuring either the Chevrolet stamped bar or the iconic Chevrolet bowtie and a mix of black, body color, chrome or the two-tone metallic trim exclusive to High Country models. “We took into account every detail of what customers expect, and how they will use their truck,” said Simcoe. “The results are unique versions of the Silverado HD equally at home working on a construction site or pulling a camping trailer.” The 2020 Silverado HD goes on sale in mid-2019. Stay tuned for more details about the all-new 2020 Silverado HD — including images of Work Truck, Custom and LTZ — closer to launch.
