My 2021 Silverado RST with a 5.3 and 8 Speed developed the dreaded "Silverado Shudder" at about 64,000 miles. I took it in, and it needs a new Torque Converter. The new Torque Converter replacement does not include any labor/parts for changing the filter and flushing the fluid. $2200 labor, $900 parts, and $50 misc for $3150. I have to say that is twice what I thought it would be. This is the one time I actually bought an extended warranty thats only good for about another 5K miles. It covered all but a $100 deductible and $683 for the fluid flush and filter. I'm grateful I had the warranty, but I didn't expect a fluid flush and filter change to be almost $700.

Hello, first time posting. I'm sure it has been asked prior to my post but I'll be honest 101 pages is a lot to go through. I'm looking at replacing my current (6 speed) transmission with either the 8 speed or maybe a 10 speed. First big question I have, because so far my research hasn't provided many answers is if an 8 or even a 10 speed could in fact fit into my 2014. Secondly, would the computer or any other electronics need updating inorder to support a newer transmission? Any help is appreciated.

Early September 2018 build, 2019 2wd 8 speed 5.3L, transmission temp never exceeded 170, now while driving same route and conditions the trans temp is 185 and the 1-2 + 2-3 light throttle shifts are slide/ bump affairs and the corresponding downshifts are very harsh. Started all of a sudden. Very repeatable. When the trans temp is below 175, it upshifts and downshifts fine. Warranty still in effect, fluid never updated to the newer Mobil 1 version. Anyone have any experience similar to this? Thanks for any insight.

I drove a 2004 Chevy 2500 4X4 for 15 years, so I have no experience with the newer models. I recently bought a 2018 Silverado 1500 High Country, and I hate the driveability of it, so I'm wondering if this is just how Chevy trucks are now? I don't want to personalize this truck that I don't even like driving due to the jerkiness. Here's what it is doing, feel free to comment on any of the "issues". I've read up some on the 8 speed transmission issues, but need to know if it is even worth fighting with the service Dept. I've only got 11K miles. Slow take-offs are jerky Fast take-offs delayed - I know I can fix this one with a $200 module Coasting up to a light slows itself to the point I have to get back on the accelerator. I don't know if this is the trans downshift or going from 8 to 4 cyclinders. The brakes brake harder than I am on the pedal. I don't know if this is the "intelligent" brake assist, but I'm barely on the brakes approaching a light and it brakes hard enough to throw me forward. or is this downshift or change in # of cylinders. It just annoys me that you can't have a smooth ride with this truck no matter how hard I try. Any help or comments would be helpful. I've got to decide to keep this truck if things are fixable, or get rid of it for something else.
