2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 5.3 Vortec. 2WD. I've got a head scratcher here. So filling up the other day, I went to start the truck, and acted like it didn't have any fuel to start. Either that or fouled plugs. Took a few tries and started hard, idled rough for about a minute and then was running good. It's been cooler outside as its winter, roughly in the 20s and 30s. But the truck was already at operating temperature. It's happened twice now after I've filled up and no other time does it do it. Few things: Around 3 weeks ago I forgot to replace the gas cap, lost it on the road. Didn't replace it until the first time it started hard. I've recently changed the oil. Along with that I used a lucas oil additive made for variable valve timing. I also used a fuel treatment for carbon deposits. After looking with my telescope camera, it did its job. Now I did get 2 codes. P0171 and P0174. Bank 1 and Bank 2 Too Lean. Definitely running on the lean side. After this last hard start, I had my scanner hooked up reading the live data, Fuel Trim (Lngshft1 and Shrtshft1; Lngshft2 and Shrtshft2) was low. Lngshft1 and ShrtShft Bank 1 showed fuel trim at start up was -10.4% on Shrtshft1 and -25.6% on Lngshft1. Running very lean on bank 1, and bank 2 was also running lean. I did clean the MAF sensor, replaced the air filter. Check for vaccum leak for about an hour and could not find one. Fuel pump is good, runs just fine. Got out the multimeter and everything seems to check out. I'm thinking its possibly the fuel filter, maybe a bad MAF, purge valve, or O2 sensor. I've been researching for a few days and looking over the truck but cant figure it out. Rather than going through the task of replacing everything and hoping it works, I figured I'd see if anyone else and had similar problem and found the solution. It runs great any other time, MAF showing correct numbers, same with Fuel Trim showing normal numbers. It's only when I fill up. Maybe a fuel pressure issue somewhere.

I have a 2008 silverado crew cab LTZ that I am having an issue with the door module. I have an alarm on the dash stating the drivers side is open when it is closed. When this happens, none of the switches will work. In order for the switches to work after that, the key must in the acc position or the truck is running and the door open. Which control module do I need to replace? Thanks in advance.

20 Quarts of oil in the engine?!
MacAaroni posted a topic in 2000-2014 Duramax, Diesel, & Drivetrain
So just yesterday i changed my fathers oil in his 2008 Chevy Duramax 6.6 Lmm.. I had a 4.5gal drain pan and it ended up overfilling and i spilled oil everywhere. Had to get a small bucket to get the rest. Put the old oil back in gallon containers and measured 4.5 gallons (18 quarts) excluding the oil i spilled. What the hell just happened here? He told me the oil was changed about 4 months ago but i wanted to change it cause it was so black. Anyone know why on earth it would have almost double the amount of fluid in it?- 6 replies

My dad passed away in march, i am keeping his truck. He bought it new and loved it to death. it is a 2008 1500 ext cab. It has 78,000 original miles, 2 wheel drive. I live in pennsylvania and he stored it every winter so it never saw salt (big deal for up here). He didn't want to go over board with it in fear of ruining it. so all that's down is a superchips program, flowmaster exhaust and k&n cai. I was thinking about taking it a bit further and dropping a supercharger kit from summit, borla exhaust, and lowering kit. I have never really hot rodded a truck, nor do i have the cash flow to go nuts. I was just thinking something he would of liked but not overboard. I was wondering if anyone has done this, and what did they think. Thanks for the help

Ok title pretty much sums everything up. I want to disable my day time running lights and my 'Auto-head lights'.. the ones that come on at dusk-night when i put the truck in Reverse or in Drive. I know how to do the DRLs driver an passrnger. But the thing thats really annoying the crap out of me is those stupid auto headlights that turn on when its getting dark or when ever you put the truck into gear. I would like to disable them. Any body know of any way? 2008 silverado 1500 ext cab 4x4
