  1. Ok, We are all familiar with the instrument cluster (servo) issues with the early 2000's trucks... I have the same story. gauges started to fail one at a time. For the last several years, all I had working was the fuel gauge. (I would measure speed by my GPS, and I have an OBDII module where I could read oil pressure, coolant, anything else...) Anyway, I drove my wife's vehicle to work for a night because she was loading some stuff to take elsewhere. When I got in my truck the next night, I noticed she had moved the steering wheel up. I moved it back down to my preferred position, and when I started the truck, ALL my gauges worked... I even had lights lit that had been out for years... But the REALLY odd thing, is my odometer now shows ~ 80k less miles than it did last week... I was under the belief that the mileage was in the "computer", not the dashboard... and my wife never even started the truck, only loaded some things in to it.... Anyone have any thoughts?
  2. I have a 2003 yukon sle 2wd. The radio, windows, gauges on right side of the dash all stop working. The abs, tc and air bag lights come on. Now if you press the brake the radio and windows work. The gauges sometime come back on. The vehicle runs good now stalling issues or anything. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas what could cause this.
  3. I have a 2003 Chevy 2500hd 6.6l diesel. All gears and shifting were working fine. Pulled out on highway today and had to get on it. When going through gears I heard it slip up and rev as if it slipped out of gear. I slowed down and got off road. It seemed to be stuck in 3rd gear. I tried putting it into reverse and it would not work. The shifter doesn’t even feel like it’s moving into gear when I move into reverse. When I move shifter to Drive, it sounds very rough and it starts off in 3rd gear. The truck will not shift out of this stuck gear, not even go into reverse. Had to put home slowly in that gear range. Need some help, What’s going on?
  4. I have a 2003 Yukon XL 2500. The radio started to cut in and out, and then soon gets to the point where there is no audio at all. No chimes and no radio. However the rear radio headphones still work. Thus I thought this was the bose amp and changed the amp. The new amp made no difference until I pulled both fuses and checked everything. I put the fuses back in and I had sound. Great. 2 hours later on the new amp the radio started to cut out again and then I had no sound. No chimes, no radio. I can restore the radio sound by pulling the radio fuse for 5 minutes, plugging it back in and all audio is restored. This does not last long and soon I will be back to no audio at all. It is not the amp as a brand new amp does the exact same thing. So how do I figure out what is wrong? I don't want to start replacing things as that did not go well with the amp. I have read that maybe there is a bad speaker, but since the speakers plug into the amp a bad speaker should only impact the amp. Also since the audio starts to cut in and out many times (longer each time) until there is no audio at all I can't imagine a bad speaker causing that. Once the speaker is detected it should cut the audio off until reset. Only pulling the radio fuse, waiting and then putting it back, will restore the audio. Is the radio bad? I pulled the codes and there seems to be nothing for the radio once the audio is lost. Thanks for any help!
  5. I am replacing the bench seat in my 86 K10 to a 40/20/40 seat set. The driver side seat is electric adjustment only, not heated. Is there more to wiring the seat up other than running a new power & ground wire from the fuse panel?
  6. So some of you are probably aware I had a little "incident" requiring me to replace both hood lift spring hinges and the hood hinge supports on both sides. I'm just wondering what order you would assemble it to prevent any further headaches or injury. So far I've marked with a sharpie where the hood hinge supports attach to my hood (three bolts each side) so it'll line up near where it belongs. I was planning on removing the one bolt and nut on each side of the hood near the windshield cowl that holds the hood to the truck. Then having a neighbor help me lift off the hood I will flip it over and install my new hood hinge supports (three bolts each side) I'm wondering should I wait until the hood hinge supports and hood itself are installed before installing the hood hinge that contains the spring (and lifts the hood) on each side? Or when the hood is off should I install the hood spring hinges? My theory would be it might be easier to install the hood without the hood spring assemblies installed yet so it could sit flat instead of in a lifted position. But I very well could be wrong The other option would be to install the hood spring assembly on each side while the hood is off (but would require my helper and I to lift the hood on in a raised position, then attach the hood hinges with the springs to the hood hinge supports in a "hood raised" position. I want to prevent a mistake or any major problem from doing this incorrectly. Also do you know if the hood hinges with the springs attach with the bolt side in or the nut side in? If anyone has access to information that says how this is supposed to be done and would share an image it would be greatly appreciated. If not, what order would you go about doing this? Hood hinge supports first (with the one bolt on each cowl side going in first, then lift hood to install spring assemblies, or install spring assemblies whole the hood is off or do I have this all wrong. Hopefully I made sense out of this because the parts come tomorrow. Thanks very much.
  7. Im swapping a 4.3 out of a silverado 2003 into a 1996 silverado trans is 4l60 e. Out of a 1998 jimmy they changed transmission to ls style for. 2003 4.3. Do they sell adapters for this. Or a special torque converter. Can I just use the ls to 4l60e adapter with new bell housing if I swap trans to 2003 it moves everything back 3/4 of an inch do I have to modify drive shaft trans mount
  8. I have a 2003 silverado with the 4.8l. Im needing a new motor figured a 5.3 would be easier to find and a better motor. But my question is what other year blocks can i use. Ive heard you can swap the 4.8 for the 5.3 with a tune. But could i fit an 04 - 06 block while keeping all accessories and fuel rails etc. I read in 04 it went to returnless fuel rails.

  10. Replacing Bose factory 6.5" subwoofer in the center consol with a JL audio 6w3v3. I have seen many people talk about doing this but have never actually seen anyone follow through. I also replaced my rear door speakers. Factory size is 4x6 and I put in 6x8. Made tempelate of speaker size and traced onto the truck door with sharpie. Then used tin snips to cut out the hole. It was super easy and there is nothing back there to get in the way. Then made a mounting ring out of MDF and a jig saw. Painted it black and put a foam sealer on it which pulled tight when I mounted the speaker. I did notice a better sound quality when I added the 6x8 over the 4x6. I swapped because I lost sound out of my back right speaker and thought why not throw a bigger speaker in there. I will be installing the JL 6w3v3 with the JL jx250 amp this week and I will post pictures and let anyone know how it turned out. Obviously it's not a 10 or 12 under the rear seat but I think it will add a much better sound overall. Not looking to wake the neighborhood. I have read many places it's is "sooo complicated" to get to the Bose sub in the center consol why bother with it. Not true at all. It took 25-30 min to get the entire console out and pull the sub.
  11. Does anyone have documentation or definitively know the specific location & function of each of the Blend Door Actuators in 2000-vintage Yukon/Sierra/Silverados?Thank you,Scott
  12. I was trying to install a new aftermarket radio and as I was figuring out which wires where which my constant orange wire touch my ground wire and ever since then my prnd321 and speedometer gas and temp isn't working anymore and some bulbs went out and now the power to the illumination in my fuse box went out even when I change the fuse (2003 s10 2.2 auto extended cab)
  13. From the album: 4silverado

Got these 2003 replacement tail lights and harnesses for Christmas. I think these look better than the stock 2004 ones, especially on a red truck.
