A Bow Kill Story That You Would Never Believe!

So this is my 6 point buck with a kicker point. I shot him with my bow this morning (thanksgiving)! This is how the story goes. He walked out around 6:30am and so I didnt know what he was at first, so I waited out a little and passed some good opportunities for an easy kill. Once I realized what he was I pulled back my bow but was standing funny in my stand I shot but apparently missed so I thought (later to learn that I grazed him). He got scared off but circled back around so that I could make another shot. I took the next shot at about 30 yards and he ran off and sounded like he stopped but never heard him drop. I called my friend Jay cause he is the master tracker and he helped me track it. at first we found only blood where I shot him but the arrow was in the deer.(guess I forgot to change broadhead blades cause that arrown should have gone all the way through) We walked all over the place trying to find blood. Finally I came to my senses and told Jay that I think that he went the other direction than I previously told him. After about 20 more minutes of nothing Jay found a huge blood trail. We followed it forever and the deer zig zagged all over the place, we would lose the blood trail and than pick it back up. The deer cut through the same field twice. Walked through a junk yard(I mean we were looking under cars expecting him to be bedded down under them) But we found him ALIVE about 50 more yards from the cars. He was bedded down and hurting. I put the arrow that I had previously grazed him with and put it through his neck. Jay and I than sat and waited about another 20 minutes for him to die, he was about 10 yards from us!

Have you ever heard of a Bow hunter getting a chance to shoot the same deer with two arrows 3 times in the same morning?

d**n, that's a nice buck! How tall are the times? Have you scored it yet?

I wish I could see some deer like that around here.

Times where like 10". I think that it would score like 119-120.... Yeah this is a big deer for around here it sucked I had to drag it like 800 yards. I got like 4 more about this size. Another 6 like this one and 2 8 pointers.

I can already guess what you are thinking and i do agree. 1 Shot is all that should be needed, though sometimes it doesn't work out that way.

Well I understand what you are thinking but you see you didnt think of the main reason that I posted this forum on here! You didn't think about the fact that not everyone on here goes to bowcountry.com and I chat with these guys everyday about trucks, I just wanted to share something with them that I think that they would like to see. If have a problem chatting about deer on a truck forum than dont click on the link...

Besides this is perfectly acceptable for this site!

Look at what I hauled in my truck!!! And yeah I might swing by to check that site out!!! This is my first year bow hunting and I Love it!!!

Fair enough man! It's still a nice buck. And I deleted the lengthy post just because as you said you "chat with these guys about trucks here". i realized that I was the one in the wrong site, not you. So, we're cool as far as I can see. Welcome to Archery hunting too. I've been hunting my entire life, and now pretty much exclusively bow hunt just because I enjoy it so much.

Anway, not to highjack the thread anymore, but I look forward to seeing you over at bowcountry. We have a specific forum just for other things that we call "Podunk"

We know return everyone to the regularly scheduled programming about the best dang trucks around.....

And I'm not going to start a pissing match, but we are human and not every shot is going end up as one shot, one kill. We make mistakes. At least you didn't give up and did what you had to do.

Hey guys, I thought that I was going to be able to pick up my deer head this past weekend but my the guy that was doing the work ordered the placks(that I wanted cause I killed it with my bow and the plack comes in a arrow head shape) well the guy that he ordered his placks shipped the wrong stuff last week... So I was delayed in picking it up till hopefully next weekend!!!

But when I get it I will get pics...!!!
