Pre-auto Recovery Story Was Spot On About Trucks

Swapalease is a company that brings together people trying to get out of a lease early and those who want to find a great deal on a short lease. One thing we like about the company is it does data-driven analysis of the auto market and then publishes the results. While researching a truck-lease story we came across an old 2010 story by Swapalease. It was a prediction that trucks might lead the way in the auto recovery. Although sales are robust now, from about 2008-2010 they were terrible and people were worried some automakers might fail - again.

Here are some selected predictions. See if any ring true now that you know how it all turned out:
- Pickup truck sales could lead car industry rebound
- Prosperous farmers and ranchers are returning to their car leasing habits...trend is helped by stable gas prices, rising fleet sales and a rebound in the housing market.
- manufacturers could get more creative in 2011, adding light-duty diesel engines to their powertrain lineups

Sure sounds like that last Swapalease prediction was spot-on, at least for Colorado, Canyon, Ram, and Titan shoppers. It's interesting to look back and see that one of the first signs of recovery was in agriculture and ranching.
