  8. NHTSA - Brake lines rust in salt states - A solution?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com

    5/13/2015

NHTSA recently issued a warning to those that live in the salt states about rusting brake lines. The upshot of the multi-year study behind the advisory was that GM and other truck makers installed brake lines that did indeed suffer corrosion in the states with rough winters where salt is used on roadways. The corrosion caused failures and accidents. These were documented in the report. GM later changed its brake line design to add a more robust protective layer. That is likely the most cost effective way to prevent trouble, but is it the best way?

  14. Rising truck prices seem to support lower hybrid & EV prices

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com

    5/04/2015

This news story will come danger-close to an opinion piece, but we will try to stick the facts. Here is a fact: According to KBB, new vehicle prices are rising. However, not all segments are costing more. Truck prices are rising the most sharply. KBB says that new full-size truck prices are up 4.5% since this time last year. Mid-size trucks are up 3.5%. That means that if your buy-price for a new truck is $40K, you are paying $1,800 more for your new truck this year than buyers did last year. It is easy to shrug off that increase as being due to inflation. However, inflation is nowhere near that level right now. In fact, it is at -0.1%. That's right, things in general cost less this year than last. So why are you paying more for your truck?

Were any other members of this forum fans of the Impala SS? That car looked dynamite when done in all-black. The new Impala is also a great design visually, and Chevy has announced it will put into production the blacked-out look it showed as a prototype in 2014. Called the Midnight Edition, the car has about as much black as any car can. Here is the list from Chevy:

  18. First official images of the new 2016 Camaro

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com

    4/30/2015

Now that Chevy has done the retro look, it is planning a more sleek and "lithe" body for the new Camaro. The two things many enthusiasts hope for are a little less mass overall (make it 5/6 scale and it might be perfect) and the ability to see out of it would be nice. Ed Welburn, vice president, GM Global Design hinted at this, saying “The Camaro went to the gym and came out with a lithe, more athletic physique for the sixth generation. It’s a more expressive evolution of the Camaro’s iconic character – and one that complements its leaner size and sharper reflexes.”

  20. GM built your truck with landfill gas

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com

    4/28/2015

Every automaker needs to talk the clean energy talk and also walk the walk. GM is doing both. As one excellent example, the General Motors’ Fort Wayne Assembly Plant, which builds both the GMC Sierra and the Chevy Silverado, uses landfill methane gas, to power about half of its operations. GM converts the gas to energy on-site having recently quadrupled its energy production.

  21. Chevy Truck feature focus - G80 Locking Axle

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com

    4/27/2015

Chevy trucks have a lock on traction. In a recent product focus document, GM shined the light on its G80 Locking Axle. A locking axle is what makes it possible for a vehicle like a 2WD Silverado pull a boat up a ramp. Locking axles also help 4WD trucks gain better traction. Explaining what makes the G80 option code special, Jeff Luke, Chevy's executive chief engineer said, “The G80 locking axle provides a greater traction advantage than limited-slip differentials in most situations, while its automatic engagement requires no driver involvement, unlike some competitors’ electronic lockers, which require driver activation. The G80’s simplicity, durability and sure-footed grip have been proven with generations of customers, as it has been a staple of the Chevy truck lineup for more than 40 years.”

  22. Chevrolet's 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition improves on insane

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com

    4/24/2015

It is very refreshing when an automaker comes right out and says that its current model blows the doors off all the prior legacy cars. That is exactly what Chevy did when it built the new 2016 Corvette Z06. Surf around the Chevy marketing information on the Z06 and one cannot help but keep tripping over comments like "Z06 IS THE MOST CAPABLE CORVETTE EVER." GM even uses all caps just to be sure that you saw it. Despite this car being the ultimate 'Vette, Chevy knows there are enthusiasts out there that want it to be even more special just for them, so it is building 500 C7.R Edition cars meant as a tip of the hat to the racing version of this supercar.

  25. Premium sportscar technology trickles down to new Camaro

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com

    4/20/2015

Without a doubt the Camaro ZL-1 and Z/28 of the current generation both feature technology typically found on premium brands' grand touring cars or on near-supercars. For the new generation Camaro, adjustable ride modes and the Magnetic Ride Control found on only the priciest GM products will find its way down the order sheet to the Camaro SS and even less costly trims. The two go hand in hand since magnetic ride control enables Chevy to make an adaptable and adjustable suspension.
