  3. Evidence of a 2016 Camaro ZL1 mounts

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    8/5/2015
First off, apologies for not posting up an image of a 2016 , but there aren't any official Chevrolet photos yet. That said, MotorTrend has a bunch of images of a car covered in camo wrap if you like those. The key element is the hood vents, or heat extractor. MotorTrend and others surmise those indicate the supercharged 6.2 is under the hood, hence the ZL1. The Z/28 used a normally-aspirated engine as you know, and Chevy made a lot of noise about that, so reversing direction and using a non-blown engine in the 2016 Z/28 would be odd.

    Teaser Paragraph:

Love it or not, the Chevy Volt was a unique approach to meeting the demands by CARB and a tiny number of auto buyers that want cars that use less gas, or no gas. Many Volt owners consider their car an "Electric car." We don't disagree. GM tracks the miles of EV operation by Volt owners and says that it is at 80%. Most Volt owners use their car as an EV.

  6. Does the word "Flint" remind you of Roger and Me?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    8/4/2015
There may be no more recognizable name for a location of an automotive plant than Flint Michigan. Roger and Me, a movie that explained in painful detail just how terrible GM is (was) in one documentary film maker's mind, helped to make the location known, and notorious. This week, GM announced a continuation of the investment it has poured into Flint Michigan since 2011. This time the investment is in the paint shop and other areas and totals 877 million. That brings the total dollars GM has invested in this location to $1.8 billion in the past four years.

  7. What percent of Colorados will be sold with Duramax? Go On The Record

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    8/3/2015
Among the mid-size pickup fan community there is perhaps no topic more passionately discussed than the current lack of a diesel offering. Both the folks at the Tacoma sites and everyone who is a fan of the GM trucks are clamoring for a diesel truck. Last week GM officially announced that the Duramax is a go. The press release was intended to give the impression it is available for purchase, but actually that will most likely be November. Either way, the truck is no longer a "future product." Thus, we reached out to the GM communications people and asked them to tell us how many of the Colorado and Canyon will be built with the Duramax. Our guess is they won't say, but if they do we will report it post-haste.

This week the official 2016 Chevy Colorado towing numbers were released for the 2.8-liter Duramax diesel. According to the information, the new Colorado can to up to 7,700 pounds in two-wheel drive and 7,600 in four-wheel drive versions. Diesels have more than one advantage, but the most commonly cited advantages are towing and fuel efficiency. The combination of these two is also a hot topic.

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    7/26/2015
Sharp-eyed Camaro writers have picked out an option from the Camaro order guide that people are starting to talk about. Apparently, the 2016 Camaro will be offered with a blacked-out bow tie logo and also a new illuminated gold bow tie. As cool as that will look on the grill of the new Camaro, our first thoughts were that the new factory illuminated option would look great on both the Silverado Midnight Edition and Black-out Edition.

The latest news is that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is looking to GM's activities. One part of the issue is not clear is if the dealers are the target of the probe, GMN, or both. The Detroit News reports that GM responded to the FTC June 3rd. The FTC has confirmed the investigation but would not elaborate.

The company did very well in the U.S. market, made a small profit in China, broke even in Europe, and lost money in South America. Commenting on the results, Mary Barra, CEO of GM, said, “The first two quarters of the year were strong as we fully capitalized on a robust North American Industry and maintained our strength in China, despite challenging conditions in that market."

Now image that when you enter this vehicle that you have never been in before the seat and mirror positions, satellite radios stations, door lock settings, and all the other stuff you set in your vehicle immediately mimic your Silverado at home. GM has patented technology that would allow for exactly that.

  21. Camping in your truck made easy with power cap lift

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    7/21/2015
The Topper EZ Lift from A.R.E. allows truck owners to raise the fiberglass cap over their truck bed with the push of a button. Powered by the truck's 12-volt battery, the Topper EZ Lift raises up the cap in just 30 seconds. It can lift up to 900 pounds. Once you are ready to pack up the lift lowers and makes a tight seal, automatically locking back in place. The idea is to use the additional space for a tent, or to access cargo without removing the top.

  24. One Thousand, Four Hundred Million For GM Plant in TX

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    7/17/2015
General Motors is one of the many automotive companies expanding in the U.S. However, very few can match its latest commitment to the Arlington, TX plant. GM is investing not $100 Million, not $500 Million, but rather one thousand four hundred million dollars in the plant. This money will go to modernizing the plant to make better full-size SUVs. Imagine 1,400 bundles of one million dollars. You'd need 5,600 good-sized duffel bags to hold that amount of cash if it was all in Benjamins.
