Buick showed off its new Cascada's safety systems in a new press release this week. GM is long overdue in adding active rollover protection to its drop-tops, and this system is very welcome. However, what struck us as we checked out the images is that the Cascada is a fantastic looking car.

The two-plus-two front drive Cascada will be a cruiser. It comes with a 200hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine and only a six speed automatic (no manual). If you want a sportier ragtop Chevy has the Camaro and Corvette in about a million different configurations. Many drivers want a convertible that does not have huge horsepower, carbon-ceramic brakes and a big price tag. They just want to feel the sun on their face and the wind in their hair.
The new Cascada fills a slot in the GM lineup that has gone missing way too long.

The yellow posts shown in the last image are the active rollover bars that pop up when needed.
