GM has strong second quarter due to N. American sales

    GM earned $1.2 billion on revenue of $38 billion in the second fiscal quarter. The company did very well in the U.S. market, made a small profit in China, broke even in Europe, and lost money in South America. Commenting on the results, Mary Barra, CEO of GM, said, “The first two quarters of the year were strong as we fully capitalized on a robust North American Industry and maintained our strength in China, despite challenging conditions in that market."

CBS Detroit says that the positive results were due to new product sales and the heavy percentage of sales form trucks, which are more profitable than cars.
