Colorado Sales Down in First Month of Duramax Diesel Sales

In the first month of sales since the new Duramax diesel Chevy Colorados were available GM sold less Colorados. And not by a little. Sales were down 7.3% for the month. Notably, at 5,508 units, it seems as if Chevy sold much less than its total production output capability. Prior months had reached almost 8,000 units (December was 7,900) The Canyon was essentially flat with January sales of 2,270 versus 2,205 in 2015. The Canyon had sold as many as 3,000 units in prior months.

Clearly the decline in GM mid-size truck sales were not caused by Duramax diesel trucks being for sale. Very few were sold, though our own readers did post images of them on lots and we know that diesel trucks were delivered from other reports. By way of comparison, the Toyota Tacoma was up about 12% in January and GM's Silverado and Sierra also up for the month.
