2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD and 2024 GMC Sierra HD trucks with a 6.6L Duramax Diesel Engine may have the air conditioning shut off in hot weather while the vehicle is at idle, among other trouble codes that may display. Thankfully the issues can be easily fixed with a quick trip to a dealership. If you have a 2024 HD, we’ve got the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that covers the issue and fix.
Technical Service Bulletin – 24-NA-058 – Vehicles Affected
- 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD & 3500HD – L5P Duramax Engine
- 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD & 3500HD – L5P Duramax Engine
Technical Service Bulletin – 24-NA-058 – Conditions Reported
This TSB covers a condition where the engine trouble light becomes illuminated, multiple codes are set in the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the air conditioning may not work while the vehicle is at idle.
The TSB states:
- Some customers may comment on the MIL illuminated.
- Some customers may also comment that the A/C turns off at idle when it is hot outside.
- Some technicians may find one or more of the following DTCs set in the Engine Control
Module (ECM):
– P062F, P040B, P041B, P0422, P060C, P062B, P1428, P142A, P20EE, P20FE, P22F9, P244A, and/or P244B
Technical Service Bulletin – 24-NA-058 – The fix
Thankfully the reason for these issues and a fix for them is simple. The errors are caused by a “software anomaly,” and reprogramming the Engine Control Module and performing a Barometric Pressure Sensor Reset will fix the issue.
Dealers will repair this problem under a vehicle’s manufacturer warranty, and there will be no charge for the customer.
