If you’ve noticed that your 2022-2023 Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra has a leaky or dribbling front surround view camera washer nozzle, the fix is easy to implement and most likely covered under warranty.
GM’s Surround View Camera System
GM’s Surround View camera system is a fantastic piece of technology. It helps you park, tow, and navigate tight spaces in your big truck. The system works by using four cameras: one positioned in the front, one in the rear, and one under each rearview mirror. We use our 2022 Silverado ZR2 camera system every single day.
The Leaking Front Camera Problem
But as it turns out, some 2022 and 2023 Silverado and Sierra equipped with the system may have a little bit of a dribble problem. According to GM-Techlink, some owners may notice the front camera washer leaking washer fluid from time to time. The front camera uses a washer fluid nozzle to keep it clean during day-to-day use. When a specific part fails, the nozzle may drip washer fluid, obstructing your view in certain situations.
The Leaking Front Camera Fix
The front camera nozzle uses a hose that runs from the washer tank to the front grille area and front camera. Although it isn’t noted in the technical service documentation, that hose includes a one-way check valve. When that check valve fails- you get a leaky, dribbly front camera washer nozzle.
Replacing the hose also replaces the one-way check valve and fixes your problems. If you think you have this issue, make sure to take it to your dealer and reference #PIT6053 so they know exactly how to fix it.
