If you own a Silverado HD or Sierra HD with an unusual shake or shudder at light throttle or steady speed- Chevrolet and GMC have released a fix that may address your problem.
Silverado HD / Sierra HD Shudder and/or Shake – The Issue
Detailed under a new Technical Service Bulletin released on November 30th, 2023- dealers have been advised that some customers who own a Silverado HD or Sierra HD may “comment on a shake and/or shudder during steady speed and/or light Throttle Acceleration Between 25 and 50 MPH (40 and 80 KM/H).”
Silverado HD / Sierra HD Shudder and/or Shake-Affected Trucks
The issue is so far limited to 2024 model-year vehicles produced during a specific time frame:
- 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD / 3500HD
- 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD / 3500HD
- Pickups Produced in Flint from start of production up until 7/5/23 and VIN 1GT49ME73RF189547
- Pickups Produced in Oshawa from start of production up until 7/27/23 and VIN 2GCPADED9R1128656
- Vehicles with either the 6.6L Duramax Diesel (L5P) and 6.6L Gas (L8T) Engines
Silverado HD / Sierra HD Shudder and/or Shake- The Fix
Customers should take their pickups that fall under this TSB timeframe and VIN range to their dealer for confirmation that the transmission calibration and software is correct. If not, your dealer will reflash a new transmission software and recalibrate the transmission to fix the issue. This repair is covered under warranty.
