Our friend Tim over at Pickup Truck + SUV Talk scored some insane exclusive news today regarding some engine changes coming down the line for the Chevrolet Silverado in 2022.

Tim was watching the live stream from the Work Truck Show, which is being held virtually this year. In the middle of the mundane minutia of work truck stats, Chevrolet’s presenter decided to spill some beans on the engine lineup of the 2022 Silverado.

As it turns out, the 4.3L and 5.3L engines with active fuel management (the ones that carried over from the past generation) are getting the ax for 2022. So is the 6-speed transmission that they were paired to.

That leaves the next-gen 5.3L, 2.7L Turbo, 3.0L Diesel, and 6.2L V8 as the only options announced so far. Transmission choices will be limited to either the 8-speed or the 10-speed.
