Last week we were introduced to the refreshed 2024 Silverado HD- however, Chevrolet only gave us a peek of the up-level trims. Our spy photographer has captured a prototype showing what the new Silverado HD will look like in WT and LT trim levels. What features does it keep from the previous generation? 2024 Silverado HD WT – Our Spy Photographer Reports

Chevrolet has unveiled its updated Silverado HD, but so far, we’ve only seen it in its luxurious High Country trim. This new prototype catches what appears to be facelifted Silverado in either the WT or LT trim—our first uncovered look at the revised truck in its downmarket form.

Different Headlight Configuration On Lower-Tier Trims

This prototype isn’t fitted with the all-new headlight and LED cluster found on the 2024 HD High Country. Instead, a lighting set-up similar to (or even identical to) the current trucks appears to be maintained on at least some of the lower trim levels. While this prototype’s lighting set-up is familiar, the grille is all-new, with different detailing and a unique slat design. The grille treatment is similar to what debuted on the Silverado HD High Country, but there are three lower horizontal slats in stead of two, proving that it’s a unique design for this lower trim level.

The CHEVROLET Grille appears to be MIA

Interestingly, this entry-level Silverado HD prototype is missing the prominent CHEVROLET lettering on its primary grille bar, opting instead for the Chevrolet bow tie. On the current range, only the High Country HD trucks get the bow tie treatment. Is the CHEVROLET grille a goner throughout the revised HD lineup?

WT or LT Trim?

This prototype is fitted with the 17-inch Machined Aluminum W/heels, an option only available on the WT or LT trim levels on Chevy’s HD truck range. The camo obscures things, but detailing on this truck appears to do without some of the chrome detailing that’s found on the current HD LT pickups. The grille’s main cross bar doesn’t seem to have the same sheen as the chromed Chevy bow tie, and the hood’s air duct is also missing the LT’s usual chrome touch. Our best assessment is that this a Silverado HD WT prototype.

Old Interior Remains

Inside, the Silverado HD lineup will benefit from the upgrades found on the 2023 Silverado 1500, including a larger infotainment screen, but not all trim levels will see those upgrades. The Silverado 1500’s new interior is only available from the LT trim, and higher, leaving the WT, Custom and Custom Trail Boss trims to soldier on with the old interior design. This appears to be the case on the HD lineup, as well, as the HD prototype in these photos has the old interior and its tiny infotainment screen. If Chevy’s strategy on the HD trucks mimics what its done to its revamped light-duty Silverado lineup, then the LT would get the updated interior. That would appear to cement this as a Silverado HD WT prototype.
