Our expert photographers have captured our first look at the upgraded interior in the future 2023 GMC Canyon.
The 2023 GMC Canyon is extremely anticipated, as it will replace the current generation Canyon, which has been in production in the US since 2015 and in other parts of the world since 2011. While the current generation Canyon and Chevy Colorado are still great options in the midsize market, they are starting to show their age in a few ways.
Next-Gen 2023 Colorado ZR2 Caught With Substantial Upgrades On Display
And one of the ways the current GMC Canyon is starting to fall behind is its interior. But it seems GMC is investing significantly to remedy that for 2023. Recently, one of our spy photographers was able to capture the interior of the 2023 Canyon, giving us a great view of how far ahead the interior quality and options are moving.
Our spy photographer reports:
We nabbed a highly-detailed look inside the 2023 GMC Canyon, revealing a large infotainment screen and tidy ergonomics. We also see what appear to be luxury touches that may reveal the Denali trim. The front-fascia also gets production lighting, giving us our first good hints at the truck’s LED signature.
2023 GMC Canyon- A Detailed Look Inside
The new Canyon’s landscape-oriented display is reminiscent of GMC’s refreshed Sierra 1500, but there are clear differences on the midsize truck. The Canyon’s infotainment screen looks a bit narrower than the Sierra’s 13.4-inch diagonal display, but it adopts the full-size truck’s power/volume knob, which is integrated into the screen’s upper left corner. The Canyon’s HVAC, and Comfort controls are integrated into two rows at the bottom of the screen cluster, separated by an angle-change from a vertical row topping an angled row of buttons. This Canyon prototype is equipped with heated and cooled seats. Large dials display and change the dual-zone HVAC temperatures.
The display shows Apple CarPlay in-use, with Google Maps providing navigation on the right-side of the display.
2023 GMC Canyon- Luxurious Wood Visible In The Door Panel?
Looking past the Canyon’s steering wheel, we can see what appears to be an interesting wood feature in the door panel. It appears to be luxuriously-grained wood with metal trim peeking out from behind the door camouflage. If the visible piece is truly part of the Canyon’s interior treatment, then it would most likely be part of an upscale trim—likely the Canyon Denali. The wood treatment would seem to point to a much higher standard for GM’s next-gen midsize trucks, especially when compared to the rather lackluster interior in the current Colorado and Canyon.
Production Headlights Make An Appearance Behind The Camo
Our exterior shots show a more-finished GMC Canyon prototype, with our best look yet at the production headlight design. Hints of the Canyon’s new LED signature can now be seen, and it appears to have a more complex shape than GMC’s traditional truck LED. The design of the new Canyon, and its Colorado counterpart are shaping up to be a solid improvement over the current offerings.
