Our spy photographer has been on a roll. Now they’ve gotten a look at the interior of the 2022 Silverado Work Truck, which provided a surprising result.
Last-minute testing on the redesigned late introduction refreshed 2022 Silverado and Sierra is in full swing. Engineers are taking caravans of each model out for final shakedown and validation. They are even taking prototypes to order food through a drive-thru window. Which is how our photographer captured the following photos.
Our spy photographer reports:
We just got an uncovered look at the interior of a prototype for the 2022 Silverado 1500 WT, and we’re admittedly quite surprised at what we see.
The Silverado 1500 WT prototype was caught queued up at a drive-thru, and the dash camo left the truck’s center stack completely exposed. We were somewhat shocked to see a dashboard design that looks completely unchanged from the current Silverado in its base trim, right down to its column shifter.
GM has done a good job keeping the revamped Silverado 1500’s interior under wraps, but last October, we did manage one peek inside that confirmed a larger infotainment screen (photos included for reference). The surrounding dashboard design was still shrouded, however, so we couldn’t confirm any more about the Silverado’s updated interior, and if the changes went beyond the center stack. For the record, our prior, undisguised look at the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500’s new interior revealed an all-new design, completely different from the current truck.
With this WT-spec Silverado 1500 showing off what appears to be an unchanged dashboard, we’re left scratching our heads a bit. Perhaps the Silverado’s interior changes will be solely focused on the center stack, on models equipped with the large new screen. We’ll remain on the lookout for more Silverado prototypes to try to sort out the changes before the updated trucks make their debut on September 9th.
