General Motors has finalized the dates that production will begin on the redesigned 2022 Silverado and Sierra.  We also know when dealers can start ordering the redesigned light-duty pickups for customers.

GM-Trucks.com exclusively received this screen-shot from GM’s dealer network that details the exact dates that dealers will be able to order “old” 2022 models for the last time, when “new” 2022 orders will be accepted, and when “new” 2022 Silverado and Sierra trucks will go into production at each of the two manufacturing facilities.

As detailed in the above screenshot- new 2022 Chevy Silverado and 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 pickups will be able to be ordered starting the week of December 16th. Last gen trucks produced in the first half of the 2022 model year had their last ordering cycle earlier this month on December 9th, 2021.

The DOSP Cycle (Dealer Order Submission Process) is the process of dealers submitting their orders to GM for trucks they would like to stock. GM then takes all of the orders, figures out what they can produce, and creates a manufacturing schedule that optimizes dealer demand and actual production capability. We believe “MCM” in this document means “Mid Cycle Model”.

After dealers submit their first round of orders on December 16th, production of the new model will begin two months later. Silao, Mexico is the first facility to be up and running, starting production on February 7th, 2022. Fort Wayne Assembly (FWA) comes online a month later, on March 7th, 2022.

Final 2022 Silverado and Sierra LTD Production Constraints

The dealer information also details the severe restraints that GM has put on the remaining “old” 2022 production. No 3.0L diesels and only 15% 6.2L engines will be produced. Ordering of LT Trail Boss is limited to 13%, Custom TrailBoss 4% and work truck to 10%.
