The 2022 HUMMER EV Pickup testing and validation regimen is in full swing. The same group of HUMMER EV we caught testing with Chevy Colorado ZR2 running trails near MOAB also took some time to record a 30-second promotional video.

GMC is using the opportunity to also share some more detailed specifications about the HUMMER EV Edition 1. Don’t forget, GM-Trucks.com has a reservation for an Edition 1 that we hope we’ll take delivery of later this year.
GMC is also letting us know more about “Terrain Mode”. It’s part of the HUMMER EV’s drive control. It allows for regenerative braking during off-road activities and includes a special “one-pedal” driving feature for maximum control in slow-speed conditions. The feature will allow for vehicle control using only the accelerator pedal.
We’ve got the full specs below but if you want to save time, here’s our quick observations from reading them over:
- The overall length at 216.8 inches is longer than a GMC Yukon (210 inches)
- Turning radius in 2-wheel-steer is larger than a GMC Yukon, but in 4 wheel steer is tighter than a GMC Acadia
- Ground clearance in extract mode is an amazing 15.9-inches. Normal ground clearance is 10.1-inches, Terrain Mode ground clearance is 11.9-inches. That means extract mode can lift the HUMMER EV Truck an outstanding 5.8 inches higher.
- There’s no numbers to indicate how much the HUMMER EV Truck will weigh
“One-Pedal Driving offers a great feeling of control by optimizing the regenerative braking, friction braking and drive motor torque all through the accelerator pedal,” said Aaron Pfau, GMC HUMMER EV lead development engineer. “Drivers will quickly realize the benefits once they try it off-road.”
